The Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus launched with suggested pricing starting at $299, but Intel’s current US product pages list a recommended customer price of $339–$349. That is a change in Intel’s price benchmark—not proof that every retailer now charges above it. In July 2026, reported retail prices were still around $313–$320.
What does the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus cost?
Intel announced retail availability beginning March 26, 2026, with suggested pricing starting at $299. That figure describes the launch announcement, not Intel’s current recommendation. Intel’s launch announcement is the source for the date and starting price.
As of October 8, 2026, Intel’s US specifications page lists a recommended customer price range of $339–$349. Its ordering page specifies $349 for the boxed processor and $339 for the tray version. A tray price is not a like-for-like comparison with a boxed retail listing.
| Price reference | Amount | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Launch suggested price | $299 starting price | Intel’s March 2026 announcement; a launch benchmark, not the current recommendation. |
| Current Intel recommendation | $339–$349 | Intel US product specifications page, accessed October 8, 2026. |
| Boxed / tray recommendation | $349 / $339 | Intel US ordering page, accessed October 8, 2026; boxed and tray versions respectively. |

Why is the 270K Plus more expensive than its launch MSRP?
In July 2026, Tom’s Hardware reported that Intel’s recommended range had risen from $289–$299 to $339–$349. The earlier range differs from the $299 starting figure in Intel’s launch announcement: one is a reported previous recommended range, while the other is the launch announcement’s stated starting price. Neither should be confused with today’s retailer price.
Intel’s explanation, as reported by HardwareLuxx and reproduced by PC Gamer, was: “The recent pricing updates reflect current market dynamics, including rising supply chain costs and strong demand for our Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus processors.” That is Intel’s stated rationale, not an independent measurement of what caused prices to change. Tom’s Hardware’s July report and PC Gamer’s report of Intel’s explanation provide that context.

Are retailers selling the processor above Intel’s current recommendation?
Not consistently, based on the dated observations available. TechSpot reported retailer prices around $313–$320 at the time of the July 2026 recommendation change—below Intel’s newly published $339–$349 range. A Best Buy listing result showed $349.99 when crawled approximately September 2026, just above the $349 boxed recommendation. That is one listing observation, not a market-wide average or a guarantee of current stock or price.
Before comparing an offer, check the exact boxed SKU, seller (retailer or marketplace seller), in-stock status, shipping and tax, and the date. Retail prices can change; the cited Best Buy listing does not establish the price available today. TechSpot’s July 2026 report covers the reported $313–$320 prices, and Best Buy’s listing is the individual retailer example.

How to judge a listing against both price benchmarks
- Use $299 only when asking how a price compares with the launch suggested starting price.
- Use Intel’s current $339–$349 range when asking how a price compares with its current US recommendation.
- For a retailer comparison, match the boxed processor to the $349 boxed recommendation. Label tray pricing separately.
- Compare the final offer from the named seller, including shipping and tax where shown, and verify availability at the time you buy.
What product are you comparing?
The 270K Plus is an Intel Series 2 desktop processor listed with 24 cores (8 performance cores and 16 efficient cores), 24 threads, a maximum turbo frequency of 5.5 GHz, and 125 W processor base power. These specifications identify the part; they do not by themselves establish whether its price is good value or whether it outperforms another CPU.
Intel says its 200S Plus desktop processors maintain compatibility with 800-series chipset motherboards. Before buying, verify the particular board’s socket and BIOS support rather than relying on chipset family alone. Intel’s announcement provides the compatibility statement; check the motherboard maker’s support details for a specific board.
