No reporting available here confirms that Wolves are for sale, that a takeover bid is currently on the table, or that Fosun has rejected an offer. The “cut-price” story comes from a Football Insider article published on 9 December 2025. It relies on unnamed sources and is conditional: if the owners decide to sell, they might have to accept a lower price than they would like. No contractual or legal obligation to accept a low offer appears in the reporting, and the one bid that was reported, from John Textor, apparently came to nothing according to the BBC in November 2025.
What the December 2025 report actually claimed
The headline is stronger than the article beneath it. Football Insider said unnamed sources believed the club’s valuation was falling after losses, and that a lower offer might have to be accepted if Fosun chose to sell. Three parts of that claim need separating:
- The valuation figure. The article said the ownership group was believed to value the club at more than £350 million. This is a reported belief from unnamed sources, not a disclosed price or an independent valuation.
- The downward pressure. The article linked any fall in value to poor results and relegation risk. That is an explanation offered by the report, not a measured outcome.
- The sale decision. Everything in the cut-price scenario depends on Fosun deciding to sell. The article does not say that a decision has been made.
The report also said Wolves had publicly suggested that a minority stake was available. A minority investor and a full sale of the club are different transactions, and the article does not establish that a full sale process is underway.
The Textor approach and what happened to it
The “surprise” element of the headline refers to a reported bid from John Textor. Football Insider cited a talkSPORT report from 27 October 2025 that Textor had launched a bid worth £150 million in cash plus £262.2 million in shares. Those terms are second-hand. They were not confirmed in an official club statement in the material reviewed.

The BBC’s reporting in November 2025 said the Textor offer apparently came to nothing. It also described Fosun’s stated direction as aiming for self-sufficiency. Taken together, the available reporting shows an approach that was reported, with no confirmed completion and no published record of a formal rejection by Fosun.

Full takeover or minority stake?

What the club’s own figures show
Wolves’ official financial release dated 31 March 2026 is the most recent club figure found. It reports revenue of £172.0 million for the extended 13-month period ended 30 June 2025, compared with £177.7 million for 2023/24. The two periods are not the same length, so the comparison is only approximate. The club attributed the decrease mainly to a lower final league position and one fewer live UK television broadcast.
Revenue measures income, not worth. Nothing in the club’s release sets a valuation or indicates a sale price, so the £350 million figure cannot be checked against these accounts.

Ownership background
Wolves’ official announcement dates Fosun’s takeover to 2016. Football Insider reported that Fosun paid £45 million to Steve Morgan for the club; that price is also second-hand. At the time, Fosun’s representative, Jeff Shi, said: “Our goal is crystal clear: we will do our very best to help take Wolves back to the Premier League as soon as possible and to stay there.”
Fan protest and the match context
On 8 December 2025, supporters protested against Fosun during the club’s 4–1 defeat to Manchester United. Football Insider reported that thousands boycotted the first 15 minutes. The protest is evidence of supporter anger about ownership and results, but it is not evidence of a sale decision.

Would Wolves have to accept a lower offer?
The available reporting does not show that they would. The cut-price scenario is one possible outcome if a sale were pursued at a time of weak results. Whether any offer would be accepted would depend on the owners’ decisions and on the terms actually put forward, none of which are established in the material reviewed.
