Apple’s iPhone Pocket was a real, limited-edition wearable accessory made with ISSEY MIYAKE—not a new iPhone model. Apple announced it on November 11, 2025, began sales on November 14 in selected markets, and priced it in the United States at $149.95 for the short strap and $229.95 for the long strap. A later report said Apple stock disappeared quickly and that similar-looking Amazon listings appeared soon afterward. That report supports a scarcity and copying story, but it does not independently prove a worldwide sellout or that every listing was legally counterfeit.
What the iPhone Pocket actually is
Apple described the iPhone Pocket as a 3D-knitted wearable pocket created with ISSEY MIYAKE. It is a fashion accessory or small pouch, not a protective case and not an iPhone hardware product. Its ribbed, open construction stretches to reveal the phone screen and is intended to fit any iPhone as well as other small items.

Launch date, markets, colors and original prices
Apple announced the accessory on November 11, 2025. Retail availability began Friday, November 14, through selected Apple Store locations and Apple’s regional websites in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Greater China. That was a limited regional launch, not a worldwide release.

Did the iPhone Pocket really sell out?
Gizchina reported on November 30, 2025, that the accessory “went fast” and was no longer available through Apple’s online shop. The report is evidence that availability reportedly dried up soon after launch, but it does not establish a complete inventory history.
- There are no Apple sales figures or Apple statement confirming a global sellout in the available evidence.
- There is no country-by-country record showing when each color or strap length disappeared.
- A product being unavailable in a storefront can mean a temporary outage, a sold-out variant or a permanent end to production.
As of the August 16, 2026 information cutoff, there is no established evidence here that Apple had restocked the product or continued selling it. Treat “sold out” as a reported description of rapid unavailability, not as a verified worldwide inventory claim.

What was reported about Amazon listings
The same Gizchina report said that Amazon listings resembling the iPhone Pocket appeared by approximately November 19, 2025. It identified a seller called JKEindia, described wording similar to Apple’s product positioning and promotional images that allegedly echoed Apple’s styling, and cited a purported long-style item around $99 and another product at $29.99.
Those observations came from secondary reporting. No Apple confirmation, Amazon enforcement notice, laboratory comparison, preserved product page or authenticated test purchase is documented in the available material. The safest description is therefore “reported lookalikes” or “alleged copies,” rather than treating every listing as conclusively counterfeit.
Lookalike, unauthorized copy or counterfeit?
- Lookalike: A product with a similar shape or function that does not necessarily claim Apple or ISSEY MIYAKE affiliation.
- Unauthorized copy: A product that reproduces design or marketing elements without permission.
- Counterfeit: A product that falsely presents itself as an Apple or ISSEY MIYAKE product, or uses protected branding to mislead buyers.
The reported imagery and wording suggest possible copying, but similarity alone does not prove the legal status of every listing.

Why copies can appear quickly
Several market forces can explain the timing without proving misconduct by Amazon or any particular seller:
- A distinctive textile silhouette is relatively simple to imitate compared with an electronic device.
- Limited official supply leaves unmet demand immediately after launch.
- “Apple” and “iPhone” generate substantial marketplace search interest.
- Marketplace sellers can reuse concepts, keywords and promotional imagery quickly.
- Shoppers facing scarcity may accept unfamiliar sellers or unusually low or high prices.
How to check an Amazon listing before buying
- Use Apple’s details as a baseline. Compare the claimed version, strap length and colors with the official descriptions. An alleged short-strap listing in a color Apple never offered needs extra scrutiny.
- Read the identity claim precisely. “Apple-style,” “for iPhone Pocket” or “compatible with iPhone Pocket” describes something different from an Apple product. Look for a clear, supportable claim of Apple–ISSEY MIYAKE provenance.
- Inspect the images. Photos copied from Apple’s newsroom are a warning sign, not proof of authorization. Ask whether the listing shows the actual item, packaging and labels.
- Evaluate the seller. Check the business identity, product-specific reviews, customer photos, return terms and sales history. Prime eligibility or a high review count does not itself authenticate the product.
- Compare the economics. A price far below Apple’s $149.95 or $229.95 launch prices may indicate a generic pouch; a high price does not prove genuineness either.
- Preserve provenance. Save the product page, seller name, order confirmation, invoice and packaging. Packaging can be imitated, so it is supporting evidence rather than a definitive test.
No single visual check establishes authenticity without a verified genuine item and documented comparison. For a collector, provenance from Apple or a well-documented resale transaction matters more than a marketplace title.
What to do if the item appears fake
- Photograph the item, labels, packaging, shipping label and the listing as received.
- Save the order confirmation and product page before it changes or disappears.
- Request a refund through Amazon’s normal order-support process.
- Report suspected counterfeit or trademark misuse through Amazon’s reporting channels.
- Contact Apple or ISSEY MIYAKE if the item uses their branding or appears to impersonate the official product.
- If the seller refuses to resolve the issue or payment details may have been misused, contact the card issuer or the relevant consumer-protection authority.
These steps preserve evidence and create a record; they do not guarantee a particular refund or enforcement outcome.

Is buying one still sensible?
Buying an authenticated genuine item
The advantages are the official Apple–ISSEY MIYAKE design, original construction and better provenance for a collector. The disadvantages are the high launch price for a small textile accessory, scarce supply and potentially inflated resale pricing. Any current stock or resale premium needs to be verified at the time of purchase.
Buying a generic phone pouch
A reputable independent pouch is usually cheaper and may offer more choices in strap length, capacity, fabric and color. It is not an authentic iPhone Pocket, may have different stretch and security, and should be marketed clearly as an independent accessory rather than an Apple product.

Buying from an Amazon marketplace seller
Amazon may offer convenience, returns and occasional genuine used or surplus stock, but titles, images, reviews and Prime eligibility do not establish authenticity. Reviews can combine variants or sellers, listings can change, and a low price may simply reflect a third-party pouch.

For a phone holder, a clearly independent product from a reputable seller is the lower-risk practical choice. For a collector, prioritize verifiable provenance and avoid a listing that cannot show where the item came from.

The Bottom Line
The iPhone Pocket was an authentic, limited Apple–ISSEY MIYAKE accessory, and its availability reportedly vanished quickly. Use Apple’s announcement as the authenticity benchmark, verify seller provenance, and do not treat an Amazon listing’s title, imagery, price or Prime status as proof that it is genuine.
