How much did the promotion save?
The headline claim that Apple TV was “over half off” was accurate for the U.S. offer:
- Regular six-month cost: $12.99 × 6 = $77.94
- Promotional six-month cost: $5.99 × 6 = $35.94
- Total saving: $42
- Percentage discount: $7 ÷ $12.99 = approximately 53.9%
This was a reduced monthly subscription—not six months free and not a one-time $5.99 payment. Taxes could also apply.

Who was eligible?
The offer targeted eligible new subscribers and selected returning subscribers. It was not guaranteed for every former subscriber. Eligibility could depend on the Apple Account, country or storefront, subscription history, and billing route.
Reported exclusions and limitations included:

- Sign in with the Apple Account intended for the subscription.
- Check whether the $5.99-per-month offer appeared.
- Review the promotional duration, renewal price, billing date, and eligibility language.
- Confirm the subscription only after verifying those terms.
- Set a reminder before the promotional period ended if you did not want to continue.
That process should not be treated as a working redemption path now because the promotion ended December 1, 2025.
What happened after six months?
The subscription generally renewed automatically in the seventh month unless canceled. At the time of the promotion, the reported renewal price was the regular $12.99 per month. Future prices can change, so subscribers should check the exact renewal amount and date in their Apple Account.
Cancellation rules can depend on how the subscription was purchased. A direct Apple subscription is managed through Apple settings, while an Apple TV subscription purchased through Amazon Prime Video or another intermediary may need to be canceled there. Canceling immediately can also affect access according to the account’s displayed expiration terms, so check those details before confirming cancellation.

Apple TV through Amazon Prime Video
Coverage also reported the $5.99-for-six-months promotion through the Apple TV channel on Amazon Prime Video. That was a separate billing route, and readers should not assume that Amazon and Apple subscriptions have identical eligibility, account management, or cancellation procedures.
For an Amazon-billed subscription, confirm whether billing, support, and cancellation are handled in Amazon’s Prime Video settings. The historical offer does not establish that the same promotion is currently available in 2026.
What could subscribers watch?
The value depended on the titles a viewer wanted. Apple TV’s catalog has included Apple Originals such as Severance, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Slow Horses, and Pluribus. The service has also promoted sports programming including Friday Night Baseball, MLS, and Formula 1, although availability varies by country, season, and rights agreement.

At $35.94 before tax, the promotion also made it easier to spread the cost across a full season of viewing, and Apple says one subscription can be shared with up to five other family members through Family Sharing.

Apple TV’s narrower catalog compared with general-purpose streaming services also meant that the discount did not automatically justify maintaining the subscription for six months.
