Cash App may not offer a universal “delete contact” control for individual users. The right solution depends on what you mean by remove: block or report an individual if the option appears, turn off Contacts access to stop suggestions, block a merchant through Activity, or contact Cash App immediately if money or account access is involved.
The instructions below apply to Cash App’s U.S. materials and may vary by device, app version, account type, or country. Menu names were checked against available U.S. materials as of August 18, 2026.

First, decide what “remove someone” means

| Stop recurring merchant charges | Block the merchant in Activity and cancel the subscription with the merchant separately. |
| Someone accessed your account | Secure your credentials and linked financial accounts, then report unauthorized activity immediately. |
How to block or report an individual
Cash App’s official materials confirm that you can search for people by name, $Cashtag, phone number, or email address. The exact individual-blocking path is not universally documented in Cash App’s public materials, so the labels may differ between iPhone, Android, and app versions.

- Verify the correct person using their name,
$Cashtag, phone number, email, and profile details. Similar display names are not enough. - Open the profile or interaction and look for a three-dot menu, profile options, Privacy, Block, or Report.
- Confirm the action if Cash App displays it.
If your version shows no Block option, use the transaction’s support or report path, update Cash App and your phone’s operating system, or contact Cash App through cash.app/help or the app’s Support section.

Blocking may restrict future interaction inside Cash App, but do not treat it as account deletion. It does not necessarily erase transaction history, reverse a payment, cancel a subscription, or prevent contact through text, email, social media, or another account.
How to stop Cash App from using phone contacts
Cash App’s Privacy Notice says it may access and upload phone contacts to help users find people, invite friends, reduce mistaken payments, and provide personalized services.

- Delete or edit the person in your phone’s Contacts app if you no longer want them in your address book.
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Open Privacy, Privacy & Security, or App permissions.
- Choose Contacts, select Cash App, and turn access off. On many Android phones, the route is Settings → Apps → Cash App → Permissions → Contacts → Don’t allow. On iPhone, it may be Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → Cash App.
- Reopen Cash App. If it offers a contact-sync setting, disable that as well.
Deleting a phone contact and revoking permission are separate actions. Neither necessarily removes prior Cash App activity, transaction records, or a person from Cash App search immediately.

Cash App’s U.S. terms specifically document blocking a merchant through the Activity tab. This procedure should not be assumed to apply to ordinary individual users.

- Open Cash App and select Activity.
- Open a transaction from the merchant.
- Use the available option to block the merchant from using your Cash App account as a payment method.
Blocking the merchant does not cancel an existing subscription, recurring charge, or outstanding balance. Cancel the subscription directly with the merchant and keep confirmation of the cancellation.
Can you delete a Cash App payment or transaction?
Removing a contact is not the same as deleting a payment record. Cash App’s U.S. Terms of Service state that transaction receipts and account statements are available through the Activity section and that transaction history can be accessed through Cash App. Do not assume that deleting a phone contact or blocking someone removes the transaction from your history.

If you paid the wrong person
Open the payment immediately and look for any available Cancel, Refund, or support option. Cash App’s terms say its ability to stop or cancel a peer-to-peer payment depends on how the payment was initiated and whether processing has begun. Cash App is not required to stop or recover every misdirected payment. Certain unclaimed peer-to-peer payments may be canceled automatically after 15 days.

What to do about scams, spam, or harassment
- Do not send money to “verify” an account, unlock a refund, or receive a prize.
- Save screenshots, the person’s
$Cashtag, phone number, email address, messages, and transaction ID. - Use Cash App’s in-app report or support option and block the account or request if that control is available.
- Contact Cash App through the app, cash.app/help, or 1-800-969-1940.
- Never give a purported representative your password, PIN, Social Security number, or full debit-card number.
Cash App’s Acceptable Use Policy prohibits fraud, harassment, stalking, threats, abuse, and similar conduct. If there is an immediate physical safety threat, contact local emergency services rather than relying only on an app report.
What if someone has access to your Cash App?
If “remove someone” means that another person can access the account, blocking their profile is not enough:
- Change your Cash App password or passcode immediately.
- Review linked devices, your email address and phone number, bank accounts, and debit cards.
- Remove unknown linked accounts or cards and secure the email account associated with Cash App.
- Enable available security protections.
- Contact Cash App immediately and report unauthorized transactions.
Under Cash App’s current U.S. terms, reporting certain unauthorized activity within two business days can limit potential liability to $50; later reporting can increase potential liability to as much as $500 in circumstances described in the agreement. These are policy provisions, not a guarantee of reimbursement, so report the activity as soon as possible and review the current terms.

Use only Cash App’s in-app Support, cash.app/help, or the official phone number 1-800-969-1940. Avoid phone numbers found in social-media comments, search advertisements, or unsolicited messages. Cash App’s terms state that representatives will not ask for your password, PIN, or full debit-card number.
