Amazon’s Vinyl of the Month Club was reported at launch in June 2021 as a U.S.-only subscription sending one curated LP per month, mainly from the 1960s and 1970s. The reported price was $24.99 a month, with shipping included according to Forbes. Those are historical launch details—not a current offer: the club’s present availability, price, eligibility and terms could not be confirmed. Check Amazon directly before making plans to subscribe.
What the club offered at launch
Launch coverage described a physical record selected by Amazon Music experts and shipped to subscribers each monthly billing period. Amazon called the period the “Golden Era of Vinyl,” referring to albums from the 1960s and 1970s. The model was curation and surprise, rather than choosing a specific record in advance. What Hi-Fi? and Forbes covered the June 2021 launch.
Early examples reported included Pink Floyd’s The Wall and The Clash’s London Calling. Launch coverage also mentioned Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin and ABBA. These examples suggest a focus on familiar, widely recognized albums; they do not establish a complete catalog or guarantee what any subscriber would receive. E-Commerce Times also reported on the service at launch.
Launch-era price and subscription terms
Reports put the launch price at $24.99 per month. Forbes said the record and shipping were included. Treat that figure as the reported 2021 price, not a current quote, and do not use it to estimate what the service would cost today.

Launch reporting said subscribers could skip a month or cancel, and described free returns for unwanted records subject to conditions such as the record being new or sealed. The terms were not necessarily friction-free: an E-Commerce Times reviewer said a skip selection apparently did not prevent a shipment. The current skip, cancellation and return rules are unknown.
Is the club available now?
Current operation and signup availability are unconfirmed. The launch reports describe a service offered in the United States in 2021, but that does not establish present-day eligibility or availability. A later portfolio page from a designer who worked on the Amazon Music project says the launch expanded to four genre boxes—hip-hop, pop, rock and country—but does not say when that expansion occurred or whether any box remains available: the designer’s project page.

Who might have liked the subscription?
It may suit discovery-focused listeners
The surprise-selection format could appeal to someone who wants a curated classic album without choosing a title each month, especially a listener open to mainstream rock, pop, jazz and other well-known records from the period. That is an inference from the reported curation model and examples, not a verified account of subscriber outcomes.

- Experience the high-fidelity audio of vinyl
- Fully automatic belt-drive turntable operation with two speeds: 33-1/3, 45 RPM
- Anti-resonance, die-cast aluminum platter
- Redesigned tonearm base and headshell for improved tracking and reduced resonance

It may not suit collectors with specific tastes
If you already own many canonical albums, want a particular pressing, or primarily listen to genres outside the reported selections, buying records one at a time gives you more control. A surprise title can also be a poor fit if you dislike receiving duplicates or records you would not have chosen.
Account for the equipment and the full cost
The subscription delivered LPs, so you need a turntable to play them. Compare any current subscription price and shipping terms with the cost of buying albums individually; the historical $24.99 monthly price cannot show whether the service saves money now. Include the possibility of an unwanted or duplicate record in that comparison.

What the vinyl market figures do—and do not—tell you
Vinyl was growing when the club launched, but that backdrop is not evidence that this particular subscription was good value. E-Commerce Times reported that the RIAA’s 2020 annual report put U.S. vinyl revenue at $626 million, up 28.7% year over year, and said vinyl revenue exceeded CD revenue in the United States for the first time since 1986. The same article reported that the BPI’s 2020 annual report said vinyl accounted for 18% of UK albums sold that year. These are historical figures reported secondhand in 2021, not current market statistics. E-Commerce Times’ launch article attributes them to the RIAA and BPI reports.
