Amazon ended its U.S. Prime Invitee program on October 1, 2025. People who had been using another person’s Prime membership through that program no longer receive shared Prime delivery if they live outside the member’s household. Amazon Family remains an option for eligible people who share the same primary residential address; otherwise, Amazon says the former Invitee needs their own Prime membership to receive Prime benefits.
What changed with Amazon Prime shipping sharing?
Amazon’s U.S. help page says Prime benefit sharing through the Prime Invitee program ended on October 1, 2025. That program had let a Prime member share delivery benefits with an Invitee who did not live in the same household. The end date has passed, and Amazon says Invitees lost access to shared Prime delivery. Amazon’s current U.S. Prime benefit-sharing page explains the change.
The change concerns the off-household Invitee arrangement. It does not mean all household sharing ended: eligible people living with a Prime member may still share selected benefits through Amazon Family.
Who can still share Prime benefits in the U.S.?
Amazon says a Prime member can share selected benefits with one other adult who lives at the same primary residential address, as well as eligible child profiles. Amazon defines the primary residential address as the place a person considers home and where they spend most of their time. The U.S. help page specifies up to four child profiles; its teen eligibility note says teens must have been added before April 7, 2025, so it should not be read as allowing new teen enrollments under that arrangement. Amazon Family uses separate adult Amazon accounts. Amazon says setup is free, but one adult must hold Prime to share Prime benefits. This is benefit sharing across eligible household accounts, not permission to use one shared login or a guarantee that every Prime service is included. What benefits can household members share?
Amazon lists fast, free delivery on eligible items, access to Prime deals and events, Prime Video with ads, Prime Reading, certain third-party benefits, and digital content among the benefits available through Amazon Family. Amazon Music Prime has a distinct sharing description: one other adult can use ad-free shuffle listening. Benefits and eligibility are not identical across all Prime services, so check the current list for the marketplace and account before relying on a particular feature. What should a former Prime Invitee do?
- If you live with the Prime member: Ask the member to check whether you qualify for Amazon Family and can be added using your own Amazon account. Amazon’s U.S. rules require the same primary residential address.
- If you live elsewhere: The old Invitee delivery benefit is no longer available. Amazon identifies getting a separate Prime membership as the route for an off-household former Invitee who wants Prime benefits. Check the current membership terms for your marketplace before signing up.
- If you are unsure which country’s rules apply: Check the help pages for the Amazon marketplace where the membership is held. Eligibility and setup requirements vary by country.

What if someone leaves an Amazon Family?
Amazon’s U.S. help page says a person may leave and rejoin the same Amazon Family, but must wait 12 months before joining a different Amazon Family. Consider that restriction before leaving a household arrangement. Amazon’s U.S. help page gives the current rule.

Yes. Amazon’s U.K. help page also requires household members to share a primary residential address, but it describes payment-method sharing for household verification. It further says households created before September 24, 2026, with two-way payment sharing continue unchanged until a member is added or removed or the other adult leaves; after one of those changes, the arrangement transitions to one-way payment sharing. These are U.K.-specific conditions, not U.S. setup instructions. Amazon UK’s Amazon Family help page explains them.

Amazon announced on October 2, 2026, that Amazon Family had become available to Prime members in Ireland, where one additional adult in the household can share selected benefits at no extra cost while retaining a separate account. That rollout is another reason not to assume U.S. availability or account rules apply everywhere. About Amazon Europe’s Ireland announcement describes that market’s launch.
