Amazon confirmed a $1 million cash contribution to Donald Trump’s inaugural fund in December 2024. The Associated Press also reported a separate $1 million in-kind contribution: Prime Video’s stream of the inauguration. At the time, Trump said Jeff Bezos planned to visit him the following week. A later Campaign Legal Center tracker described a December dinner between Bezos and Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The Associated Press separately reported that Amazon would stream the inauguration on Prime Video, valuing that broadcast service as an additional $1 million in-kind contribution. It was not another $1 million cash payment. The two figures refer to different forms of support.
What was reported about Bezos’s visit
In a CNBC interview on December 12, 2024, Trump said Bezos planned to visit him the following week. The Associated Press and Reuters reported the planned visit alongside Amazon’s contribution. At that point, it was a prospective visit, not a confirmed account of a meeting.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why did Amazon donate?
The available reporting does not establish Amazon’s motive. The Associated Press placed the contribution amid technology companies’ efforts to improve relations with the incoming administration and noted earlier tensions between Trump and Bezos. That context does not show that the donation was made in exchange for a meeting, bought influence, or secured a policy commitment.
