Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), and Adani Green Energy fell on Thursday, October 8, 2026, amid weakness across Indian equities. Market coverage cited a reported RBI rate increase, elevated crude prices, foreign portfolio investor (FPI) selling and technical pressure as factors weighing on sentiment. Those are reported explanations for the market backdrop—not proof that any one factor caused the fall in each Adani share.

How much did the three shares fall?

Upstox reported the following NSE intraday snapshot at 2:39 p.m. on October 8. These are prices and percentage changes at that observation time, not closing figures.

Share NSE price at 2:39 p.m. Change reported at that time
Adani Green Energy ₹1,251.40 Down 6.71%
Adani Enterprises ₹2,572.90 Down 6.20%
APSEZ ₹1,688.80 Down 3.50%

Upstox’s report attributed those figures to NSE trading. Separately, Business Standard reported intraday BSE declines of approximately 7% for Adani Green and 6% for Adani Enterprises. The exchange and observation details differ, so those figures should not be combined as though they were a single snapshot or closing prices.

What market pressures were cited?

Reports described the fall as occurring during a wider selloff in Indian equities. Upstox cited several factors that may have weighed on risk appetite:

  • A reported RBI rate increase: Upstox said the Reserve Bank of India raised its repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.5% on October 7, 2026. The article presents this as the explanation reported by Upstox; the policy announcement was not independently verified here.
  • Elevated crude prices: Upstox cited high crude prices as another concern for market sentiment. The report does not establish how much this factor contributed to the moves in the three shares.
  • FPI selling: Upstox, citing NSE data, reported that foreign portfolio investors sold ₹6,121.37 crore of Indian equities on Wednesday, October 7. That is a reported one-day flow, not a measure of selling in Adani shares specifically.
  • Technical pressure: Upstox also referred to technical pressure on high-beta Adani group counters. This is market commentary, rather than a company disclosure or independently demonstrated cause.

These factors offer context for a broad market decline, but the available reports do not identify a single trigger or establish a separate cause for each stock’s performance. Upstox’s account and Business Standard’s coverage both placed the declines against broader market pressures.

Did company announcements explain the declines?

Company investor pages list announcements close to October 8, but timing alone cannot show that an announcement caused a share-price move. The listed items do not, by themselves, establish a company-specific trigger for the declines.

Rank #2

Those are page listings; the listings alone do not establish the contents of each underlying document or any impact on trading. Adani Enterprises’ results provide business background, not an explanation of the October 8 move: the company reported consolidated EBITDA of ₹5,642 crore for Q1 FY27, the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and ₹16,464 crore for FY26, with 80% attributed by the company to core infrastructure, utility and mining-services businesses. These are company-reported figures, not an independent assessment of performance or a causal account of the share decline. See the Q1 FY27 results and FY26 company reporting.
