Newme is an India-focused women’s fast-fashion brand selling its own clothing lines online and through offline channels, according to TechCrunch’s January 30, 2024 report. Investor profiles describe the business as direct-to-consumer, with affordable multi-category casual wear for women. These descriptions reflect the sources’ reporting and profiles, not a guarantee of Newme’s present-day strategy.
Stride Ventures describes Newme as having started in Bangalore and targeting women aged 18–24 in India and Southeast Asia, including customers in Tier-2 and Tier-3 Indian cities such as Indore, Jaipur and Lucknow. TechCrunch reported that Newme was targeting Gen Z consumers in India.

The completed financing was reported as an $18 million Series A led by Accel. Stride Ventures’ Newme portfolio profile and an Accel in India post refer to the Series A.

That is different from the earlier figure in TechCrunch’s January 2024 article. It reported that Accel was in advanced talks to lead a proposed $15 million to $20 million round. The report attributed the terms to people familiar with the matter and said Accel and Newme had not responded to requests for comment. Read that amount as the reported proposal at the time, not as the final round size.
What valuation was reported?
TechCrunch reported that the proposed $15 million to $20 million financing would value Newme at approximately $83 million to $85 million post-money. That valuation was attached to the advanced-talks report; the later sources in this account identify the completed round as $18 million but do not state its valuation. The proposed valuation should not be presented as a confirmed valuation for the closed Series A.

The published founder lists differ by source. Accel’s portfolio page lists Shivam Tripathi, Sumit Jasoria and Vinod Naik, and names Anand Daniel as the Accel partner. The sources do not explain the difference, so it is best to attribute each list rather than treat one as a definitive reconciliation.
