CrowdStrike’s RSAC 2026 announcements are best understood as five capability areas—not necessarily five separately purchasable products. They expand Falcon Next-Gen SIEM with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint telemetry, Onum-powered data controls, federated search, desktop AI protection, and broader shadow-AI discovery.
The practical pitch is a security operations platform that can sit over a mixed technology estate rather than requiring an immediate endpoint replacement. But availability, licensing, supported data types, and regional access may vary, so buyers should validate each capability with CrowdStrike before treating the announcement as a production entitlement.

The five announced capability areas
- Falcon Next-Gen SIEM support for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Intelligent filtering and routing through Falcon Onum.
- Real-time detection and enrichment in the data pipeline.
- Federated search across distributed data sources.
- Expanded AI Detection and Response plus broader shadow-AI discovery.
CrowdStrike announced the capabilities at the start of RSAC 2026 in San Francisco. CRN’s coverage describes the launch areas, while CrowdStrike’s current Falcon Next-Gen SIEM page presents Onum, federated search, and AI-powered SOC capabilities as part of the platform.
1. Falcon Next-Gen SIEM adds Microsoft Defender for Endpoint telemetry
The integration is aimed at organizations running mixed endpoint environments, including companies that use CrowdStrike Falcon on some systems and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on others. Falcon Next-Gen SIEM can ingest and correlate Defender for Endpoint telemetry, allowing security teams to investigate activity through CrowdStrike’s SIEM workflows without first replacing every endpoint product.

That does not mean CrowdStrike is replacing Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. The defensible interpretation is that CrowdStrike is positioning Falcon Next-Gen SIEM as an analysis and operations layer over heterogeneous endpoint data.
Questions to ask before relying on the integration
- Which Defender telemetry types are supported: alerts, raw events, device context, identity, vulnerabilities, or response actions?
- Is data delivered in near real time, in batches, or subject to Microsoft API limits?
- Does the integration provide bidirectional response, or primarily ingestion and correlation?
- Are additional CrowdStrike, Microsoft, or third-party licenses required?
- Does it cover only Defender for Endpoint, or other Microsoft Defender products?
- Does it work in commercial, government, and regional cloud environments?
2. Falcon Onum brings filtering and pipeline controls
CrowdStrike said the new SIEM capabilities include technology from Onum, the data-pipeline company it acquired in August 2025. The reported functions include intelligent filtering, routing, transformation, and data management before or during SIEM ingestion.
Data can be routed to Falcon Next-Gen SIEM, another destination, or nowhere. That creates a control point for deciding which telemetry deserves immediate analysis, long-term retention, external storage, or disposal.

Filtering can reduce storage, indexing, and search costs while lowering analyst noise. It also creates a serious governance risk: discarding too much data may remove evidence needed for threat hunting, compliance, or post-incident reconstruction.
CrowdStrike’s product page advertises faster streaming, lower storage costs, and other performance benefits. Those are vendor or customer-case-study claims, not independent benchmarks, and should be validated against an organization’s own data volumes and retention requirements.
3. Real-time detection and enrichment moves processing into the pipeline
There is an important difference between collecting telemetry and making it useful:
- Raw collection captures events.
- Pipeline processing transforms, filters, or routes those events.
- Detection and enrichment identifies suspicious activity and adds context before the data reaches an analyst.
- SIEM investigation correlates events, searches historical records, and manages cases.
CrowdStrike described detection and enrichment directly inside the data pipeline. The goal is to accelerate response by adding context earlier, rather than waiting for every event to be stored and queried later.
This should not be read as a claim that AI will detect everything automatically. Buyers need to examine detection-rule coverage, false-positive rates, third-party data support, customization options, dependence on CrowdStrike intelligence, billing for pipeline detections, and whether transformed records remain forensically complete.

- There are 2 inside reserved fans on chassis, which could be removed freely or be turned on in a high temperature environment to ensure the best function of the product
4. Federated search reduces the need to centralize every log
Federated search lets analysts query distributed data sources without first copying all of the data into one SIEM repository. CrowdStrike cited external sources such as ExtraHop, and its product page describes an index-free approach to searching data where it resides.
Potential benefits
- Less duplication and data movement.
- Lower migration friction for organizations with multiple security platforms.
- Access to network, cloud, endpoint, identity, and application data in place.
- Potentially lower central-ingestion requirements.
Important limitations
- Search speed depends on the external system and its APIs.
- Different schemas and query languages can complicate cross-source joins.
- API throttling or connector failures can create incomplete results.
- Retention, legal holds, and access controls may remain fragmented.
- An external system can become a performance or availability dependency.
Federated search is therefore not the same as a single, fully normalized data lake. Before replacing centralized ingestion, teams should run representative investigations across every major source and measure latency, completeness, and failure behavior.
5. AI Detection and Response expands beyond browser use
CrowdStrike said Falcon AI Detection and Response, or AIDR, is expanding from browser-based AI applications to desktop applications and agentic workflows. Named examples include OpenAI ChatGPT desktop use, Anthropic Claude desktop use, Microsoft 365 Copilot integrations, IDE-connected applications, Microsoft Visual Studio Code-related environments, and agentic applications.

These capabilities address a specific part of AI risk. They should not be confused with complete model security or AI governance. AIDR, as described, primarily focuses on endpoint and application interactions, prompts, data movement, and policy controls. It does not by itself solve model poisoning, insecure model supply chains, unsafe agent permissions, hallucinations, AI-generated code quality, or non-human identity management.
Organizations should separately evaluate browser and desktop coverage, supported operating systems and application versions, API-based and local-model visibility, policy granularity, developer-workflow compatibility, audit evidence, and exception handling.
Shadow-AI discovery expands across endpoints, SaaS, agents, and cloud
CrowdStrike also described broader discovery for AI applications and agents, large-language-model runtimes, MCP servers, developer tools, shadow AI agents, shadow SaaS applications, and cloud infrastructure and application layers. Named platforms included Microsoft Power Platform, Salesforce Agentforce, and ChatGPT Enterprise.

This matters because organizations may not know which employees use generative-AI tools, which agents can access enterprise data, which developers run local models, or whether an MCP server exposes internal tools and information.

Discovery is not the same as blocking. A tool may be approved for one business unit but prohibited for another. A local model may be difficult to identify inside a container or developer environment. Human and agent identities may not map cleanly, and cloud discovery may miss activity in unmanaged or foreign-tenancy environments.
Remediation still requires an approved-tool list, data-classification rules, user education, procurement and legal review, research exceptions, and a process for investigating discovered agents, plugins, and MCP servers.

The strongest Microsoft coexistence message is “no immediate rip and replace.” A company may be able to retain Microsoft Defender for Endpoint in part of its environment while using Falcon Next-Gen SIEM for broader correlation and investigation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →That proposition is valuable only if the integration provides the telemetry depth and response coverage the SOC actually needs. Defender data inside a CrowdStrike SIEM does not automatically create identical prevention, response, identity, vulnerability, or device-control capabilities across Falcon- and Defender-managed endpoints.
Microsoft-centric organizations should compare the architecture and economics with Microsoft Sentinel, particularly where Azure integration and Microsoft licensing already dominate. Other relevant alternatives include Splunk Enterprise Security, Google Security Operations, Elastic Security, and SentinelOne Singularity.
Buyer checklist
- Confirm availability: Determine whether each capability is generally available, preview, limited release, or region-specific.
- Map telemetry: Document endpoint, identity, cloud, network, SaaS, and application sources, including supported Defender data.
- Model economics: Include ingestion, retention, indexing, API, egress, archive, endpoint, module, and services costs.
- Test filtering: Define what is retained, sampled, routed, or discarded, then test the policy against known attack scenarios.
- Test federated investigations: Measure query speed, completeness, schema mapping, connector failure behavior, and external-system dependency.
- Verify response depth: Ask whether actions can be taken in CrowdStrike, Microsoft, identity, cloud, and third-party systems.
- Evaluate AI coverage: Check operating systems, applications, agents, MCP servers, local models, cloud layers, and developer tools.
- Review governance: Confirm audit trails, data residency, privacy controls, business-unit exceptions, and employee-monitoring requirements.
- Assess specialist needs: Keep specialized systems in scope for OT, packet analysis, observability, compliance retention, or complex legacy rules.
CrowdStrike currently advertises a 15-day Falcon Next-Gen SIEM free trial, along with demo, assessment, pricing, and contact paths. Eligibility, included modules, regional availability, and commercial terms should be confirmed directly; the reviewed material does not provide a public per-user or per-gigabyte SIEM price.
The Bottom Line
CrowdStrike is positioning Falcon Next-Gen SIEM as an AI-oriented SOC control plane for heterogeneous data and increasingly complex AI use. Its value will depend less on the launch list than on integration depth, data economics, search reliability, response coverage, and whether its AI controls fit into a broader program covering identity, data classification, application security, and governance.
