Zurich announced Kristof Terryn as CEO of both Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty, subject to regulatory approval. The company calls the combination the “world’s largest” specialty insurance business; that description is Zurich’s characterization, not an independently verified ranking.
What changed when Zurich completed the Beazley deal?
Zurich said Beazley would be integrated into Zurich Global Specialty, with the combined business based in London. Zurich Group CEO Mario Greco said the integration is intended to accelerate growth and bring new solutions to existing clients. Those are the company’s stated aims, not established outcomes. Zurich’s October 2, 2026 completion announcement describes the transaction and planned integration.
The completion announcement marks a different stage from Zurich’s earlier recommended-offer announcement on March 2, 2026: the acquisition is now completed, while leadership approval and integration remain subject to their stated conditions and plans.
Who will lead Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty?
Zurich announced Kristof Terryn as CEO of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty, subject to regulatory approval. The announcement does not establish whether that approval has since been granted, so his appointment should not be described as unconditionally effective.

Other senior roles announced
- Helen Pickford, then Zurich UK CFO, was named CFO of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty.
- Sally Henderson was named Chief People & Sustainability Officer, succeeding Liz Ashford, whom Zurich said had decided to retire.
- Ed Bridge, previously Zurich UK and Ireland General Counsel, was named General Counsel of Beazley and Zurich Global Specialty.

These roles were announced in Zurich’s completion release.
How large is the combined specialty business?
Zurich’s figures refer to different reporting dates and bases. They should not be read as a current, like-for-like comparison.

| Measure | Figure | Basis and date |
|---|---|---|
| Combined Zurich–Beazley specialty gross written premiums | Approximately USD 15 billion | Pro forma, as at December 31, 2024; reported by Zurich in its March 2, 2026 recommended-offer announcement. |
| Zurich Specialty gross written premiums | Approximately USD 9 billion | As at December 31, 2025; reported by Zurich in the same March 2, 2026 announcement. |
Gross written premiums are insurance premiums written before deductions such as reinsurance. The combined figure is a pro forma measure using a 2024 date; Zurich’s standalone Specialty figure uses a 2025 date. Zurich’s description of the combined company as the world’s largest specialty insurer is not separately substantiated by an independent ranking in the cited materials. The dated figures and their bases appear in Zurich’s March 2, 2026 recommended-offer announcement.
What financial benefits does Zurich expect?
Zurich presented the following as forward-looking targets in its October 2, 2026 completion announcement—not as savings, revenue or capital already realized:
Rank #3
- More than USD 1 billion in annual incremental revenue growth by 2029.
- At least USD 150 million in combined annual cost savings by 2029.
- At least USD 1 billion of one-off capital extraction within the first two years.
The capital target is a one-off amount; the revenue-growth and cost-saving targets are annual measures. Zurich’s announcement does not make these projections guaranteed results. The company release sets out the targets.
What does the acquisition mean for Beazley customers and brokers?
Zurich’s acquisition information page says Beazley continues to serve customers and broker partners through its established channels and websites. It does not provide a market-by-market account of policy terms, claims contacts or service arrangements, so customers should not assume every detail is unchanged—or changed—based on the general continuity statement alone. For a specific policy or claim, use the contact details on the relevant Beazley policy documents or official website. Zurich’s Beazley acquisition information page provides its continuity statement.

Zurich’s rationale for the combination
Zurich said the businesses are complementary and that integrating Beazley will give its underwriters access to Zurich’s distribution model and customer service teams. Greco described the planned benefits this way: “By integrating Beazley into our Global Specialty business, we will accelerate growth and we will bring new very relevant solutions to our existing clients. Beazley’s underwriters will have immediate access to our distribution model and will join our customer service teams.” This is Zurich’s statement of intent, not evidence that the expected benefits have already been achieved.
