Pandora opened its US$150 million jewellery factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 1 October 2026. The company says the site can make up to 60 million pieces a year, increase its manufacturing capacity by 50%, and operate using 100% renewable electricity. The opening also marks Pandora’s first manufacturing facility outside Thailand.

What Pandora opened in Vietnam

Pandora says the 1 October 2026 ceremony marked the crafting of its first jewellery piece in Vietnam. The company describes the Ho Chi Minh City site as its fourth manufacturing facility globally. Its earlier May 2024 groundbreaking announcement had forecast an opening in early 2026 and identified the site as Binh Duong Province, about 40 kilometres north of Ho Chi Minh City; the later announcement gives the actual opening date and describes the facility as being in Ho Chi Minh City.

The facility is intended to support long-term growth and diversify Pandora’s manufacturing footprint. The Associated Press reports that the company sought to expand after 37 years of production in Thailand. Pandora also says the Vietnam site will have an important role in future production of platinum-plated jewellery as it diversifies its materials strategy.

Investment, production and jobs

Measure What is reported
Investment US$150 million, according to Pandora’s 1 October 2026 announcement.
Annual production capacity Up to 60 million jewellery pieces per year, according to Pandora.
Company capacity impact A 50% increase in Pandora’s manufacturing capacity, according to the company.
Employment Up to 7,000 people when the factory is fully operational, according to Pandora.

These are stated capacity and employment figures, not a report of current output or staffing at the opening. For context, Pandora says it sold 112 million jewellery pieces in 2025. The factory’s maximum annual capacity is therefore a substantial addition, but it should not be read as a forecast that the site will produce that amount immediately or that all production will be sold.

How the factory is meant to use renewable energy

Pandora says the site will operate solely on renewable electricity and use 100% recycled gold and silver. It also reports that the facility has LEED Gold certification and incorporates energy- and water-efficiency measures. The Associated Press reports that Pandora installed rooftop solar panels and plans to work with local solar farms.

The announcements do not identify renewable-electricity contracts, named solar suppliers, or the accounting instruments behind the 100% renewable electricity claim. The solar details reported by AP do not, by themselves, establish the exact arrangements used to substantiate that claim.

AP reported that CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier estimated the facility would reduce Pandora’s carbon footprint by 17%. That is the CEO’s estimate as reported by AP, not an independently verified emissions result.

What recycled-metal sourcing does—and does not—tell us

AP says Pandora switched to 100% recycled silver and gold for new jewellery in August 2024, using refined recycled metal from suppliers in Europe and Asia. That broader sourcing policy is consistent with the company’s stated plan for the Vietnam facility, but recycled content does not by itself settle questions about the traceability of metal through refining and processing.

AP quoted Saleem H. Ali, who leads the United Nations University program on critical minerals and inclusive energy transitions, on the difficulty of tracing metal after it has been melted: “Once it gets melted, it’s very hard to track it.” The comment describes a general supply-chain challenge; AP did not report a specific sourcing failure at the Vietnam factory.

What the opening means for Pandora

The factory gives Pandora production capacity outside its long-established Thailand base and is intended to make its manufacturing footprint more diversified and resilient. The stated capacity and workforce figures describe the site at full scale; the company’s opening announcement does not say when it will reach either maximum production or full staffing.

Pandora CEO Berta de Pablos-Barbier told AP: “We are leading the way and we really hope that the rest follow.” Denmark’s ambassador to Vietnam, Lina Gandløse Hansen, described access to renewable-energy infrastructure as an “important factor” for Pandora and other Danish companies.
