Yes, YouTube TV raised the price of its main U.S. plan by $10 a month, from $72.99 to $82.99. The change is not new: it began for new subscribers on December 12, 2024, and reached most existing subscribers on their first bill on or after January 13, 2025. As of August 18, 2026, the standard main-plan price remains $82.99 per month, plus tax.
When did YouTube TV raise its price?
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| March 2023 | A previous increase brought the main plan to $72.99 per month, according to Associated Press coverage. |
| December 12, 2024 | The new $82.99 price took effect for new subscribers. YouTube said the increase reflected rising content costs and continued investment in the service, as reported by the Associated Press. |
| January 13, 2025 | Most existing subscribers moved to the higher rate on their first billing cycle on or after this date. Individual timing could differ because of billing cycles or a promotion; see MacRumors’ report and YouTube TV’s billing discussion. |
| February 2026 | YouTube announced narrower, genre-based plans while keeping the comprehensive plan available. Details are in YouTube TV’s plan announcement. |
The $10 increase adds $120 over 12 months before tax, assuming a subscriber pays the standard rate for the full year. It applied to the main plan; it does not establish that every add-on or promotional subscription changed by the same amount.

The standard rate is not necessarily the amount on the final bill. Taxes, premium channels, 4K Plus, NFL Sunday Ticket, other add-ons, and partner billing arrangements can change the total. Promotions and partner credits can reduce charges temporarily, but their expiration dates and terms matter. For example, Verizon’s YouTube TV page lists the standard price while advertising an offer for eligible new customers; that partner offer is not YouTube TV’s universal price.
What is included in the main plan?
YouTube TV’s current listing describes a broad live-TV package with more than 100 channels, unlimited DVR storage, up to six household accounts, and three simultaneous streams. It includes live sports, news, entertainment, and local channels where available. See the official plan page and billing and plan details.
Channel lineups are not identical everywhere: local stations and regional sports coverage can depend on your location. Before deciding that the package covers your household, check the channel lineup for your ZIP code and the specific sports or local stations you watch.

How to check your next charge
- Go to tv.youtube.com in a web browser and sign in.
- Select your profile picture in the upper-right corner, then choose Settings.
- Open Billing and review the plan, add-ons, taxes, promotions, upcoming charge, and payment history.
If a wireless carrier, internet provider, app store, or another partner handles your subscription, that partner may control billing and display the charge. YouTube TV’s billing help and price-change discussion describe billing and promotion considerations. Use the account that actually bills you to confirm the amount and date.
Can you pay less without leaving YouTube TV?
Potentially. In 2026, YouTube announced more than 10 genre-based plans for viewers who want a narrower lineup; the comprehensive plan remains available. The announcement listed a Sports Plan at $64.99 per month. The product page later showed temporary pricing of $54.99 per month for the first year for eligible new customers. Those are separate plan and promotion details, not a reduction in the standard price of the main plan. Check the plan announcement and your account for the current lineup, availability, and post-promotion price.
A narrower plan can lower the bill if its channels match what you watch, but it may omit local networks, particular sports channels, or entertainment programming you rely on. Availability may vary, and changing plans can affect add-ons or promotional eligibility. Open the membership-management screen and compare the plans offered to your account before canceling; do not assume every plan is available to every customer.

Should you keep, downgrade, or replace the service?
Keeping the main plan may make sense if…
- Your household watches a broad mix of live sports, news, broadcast, and entertainment channels.
- Unlimited DVR, separate household accounts, or three simultaneous streams are useful enough to justify the price.
- The channels you want are available in your area and would be costly or inconvenient to assemble elsewhere.
Recheck the cost if…
- You watch only a few channels or rarely watch live television.
- Add-ons and taxes have raised your actual charge well above the plan price.
- You pay separately for streaming services that duplicate content you use little.
- A narrower YouTube TV plan or a different service covers the channels you actually watch.
Compare the full bill, including tax and add-ons, with the cost of replacing the channels and features you use. A lower advertised price is not a like-for-like comparison if it leaves out local stations, sports rights, DVR features, or streams that matter to your household.
How do other live-TV services compare?
| Service | Price or packaging detail | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Hulu + Live TV | Hulu listed its ad-supported Hulu + Live TV plan at $89.99 per month at the time of the cited page. | It combines live channels with Hulu’s on-demand library and Disney-related content, but it is not a cheaper replacement for someone focused only on lowering a live-TV bill. Check Hulu’s official page for current pricing and terms. |
| Sling TV | Uses channel packages and add-ons; the cited comparison page does not establish a single directly comparable package price. | Its more modular approach may suit viewers willing to build a smaller lineup, but check local coverage, sports channels, features, and add-on costs. See Sling’s comparison page. |
| Philo | Its subscription page showed a $25-per-month plan at the time of the cited page. | It is an entertainment-focused option, not a direct substitute for viewers who need comprehensive sports or major local broadcast networks. Check Philo’s subscription page. |
| DIRECTV streaming | The official packages page says displayed prices may reflect discounts for the first month and, in some cases, months 2–24; it does not establish one comparable recurring price here. | Compare the price after discounts, the channel lineup, and any applicable terms rather than relying on the advertised starting price. See DIRECTV’s packages page. |
Prices and promotions can change. Before switching, compare the channels you need, local availability, sports coverage, DVR, simultaneous streams, add-ons, taxes, promotion expiration, and any contract or cancellation terms. A cheaper base package can cost more once you add the programming your household expects.
