Which Yogi tea was recalled?
The product was Organic Yogi Echinacea Immune Support Tea, a caffeine-free herbal tea sold in the United States. ABC News identifies its UPC as 0 76950 45010 3 and describes the package as containing 16 tea bags. The UPC can help identify the product, but use the lot code—not the UPC alone—to determine whether a carton is affected.
The recall did not cover all Yogi teas. Yogi says its routine audits in early 2024 detected unexpected pesticide traces in some Echinacea tea. ABC News reported that East West Tea Company initiated a nationwide voluntary recall on March 12, 2024, after residues were detected above action levels.
How to check whether your carton is affected
- Find the lot code and best-before date on the side of the carton, near the yoga-pose artwork.
- Compare the lot code with the complete affected-lot list on Yogi’s Voluntary Recall page. Rely on the lot match rather than the product name or UPC alone.
- Check the best-before date too. Yogi says cartons dated May 7, 2026 or later are not included in this recall.
Use Yogi’s page for the lot list rather than relying on a copied list, which may not reflect current guidance.

What to do if you have an affected lot
Yogi’s recall page says to email customer support an image showing the carton’s lot code to request a reimbursement coupon or a replacement carton. The company says the recall is closed, but its page does not give the closure date. Check the current instructions on the recall page before contacting support, since remedy details can change.
Why were the tea bags recalled, and what is the reported risk?
Yogi says routine audits found unexpected pesticide traces in some Echinacea tea. The company explains that pesticide applications on neighboring farms could drift onto organic farmland; this is Yogi’s proposed supply-chain explanation, not an independently established cause for this particular contamination.

Yogi says the traces found in the affected Echinacea tea posed no risk of harm or illness. Separately, ABC News reported that the recall was classified by the FDA as Class III. That classification and the company’s statement concern this recall; they should not be read as a general assurance that pesticide exposure is harmless.
How many tea bags were recalled?
ABC News reported that the recall covered 54,000 boxes, or approximately 877,536 tea bags. Those figures are the news outlet’s reported totals; the underlying FDA enforcement report was not available to verify the exact count independently. The article’s headline rounds the total to nearly 900,000 bags.

What Yogi says it changed after the recall
Yogi says it secured a new Echinacea supplier and resumed production and shipment in May 2024. The company also says it added supplier-compliance and testing measures. These are the company’s statements; they do not amount to an independent audit of the measures.
