When did the Xbox price increase take effect?
Xbox announced worldwide pricing changes on June 25, 2026, with new prices effective August 1, 2026. Microsoft described the increases by storage capacity: 512GB models rose by US$100 and 1TB models by US$150. It also said it would sunset the 2TB Series X Galaxy Black Special Edition, without providing a replacement price. The official announcement does not give a complete model-by-model price list for every region, so U.S. prices should not be applied to other markets.

Why did Microsoft raise Xbox prices?
Xbox attributed the increase to higher console storage and memory costs. Team Xbox said: “Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027.” The company also said consoles are typically sold below their cost to make. These are Microsoft’s explanation and forecast; the cited announcement does not independently verify the cost figures.
