Cynthia Williams gave Hasbro notice on April 15, 2024, and her resignation as President of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming took effect April 26, 2024. She then became CEO of Funko, starting May 20, 2024. Hasbro named John Hight as President of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming in July 2024. In July 2026, Hasbro disclosed that Hight’s own presidency would end September 1, 2026, followed by an advisory role.

What “two years” means
The headline’s “two years” is a rounded description. Williams’s appointment took effect February 21, 2022, and her resignation took effect April 26, 2024, a span of just over two years and two months. Hasbro did not publish a tenure figure, so the rounding is the headline’s own.
Williams’s remit and Hight’s remit
Williams’s title in the 2024 SEC filing combined two areas: Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming. When Hasbro named Hight in July 2024, the title was framed around Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming. The change in wording matters because the two titles do not describe the same scope.

Hasbro’s announcement of Hight’s appointment quoted CEO Chris Cocks: “John’s love of D&D and Magic: The Gathering, combined with his leadership in video games, will be crucial as we expand our digital offerings to deliver what our fans crave.”
Where Williams went
Funko announced on May 9, 2024 that Williams would become its CEO, effective May 20, 2024. Funko’s announcement identified her immediately prior role as president of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming.

Hight’s transition out of the presidency
Hasbro’s July 27, 2026 Form 8-K and transition agreement set out the next phase. Hight was to remain president through September 1, 2026. From September 2, 2026, he would serve as an advisor to the CEO, with duties that include supporting the transition and onboarding a successor. The agreement names an intended end date of September 2, 2027, and allows for earlier termination under its terms.

- The reason for Williams’s resignation. Hasbro’s SEC filing and announcements give the notice date, title and effective date, but do not state why she left.
- Hight’s successor. The filings reviewed describe Hight’s planned transition and advisory service. They do not confirm whether Hasbro has publicly named his successor as of October 8, 2026.
- Whether the September 2026 schedule was carried out. The July 2026 filing gives planned dates. Later public confirmation was not found in the records reviewed.
