Blackstone’s ownership has since ended. Murka’s own announcement describes a management-led buyout led by CEO Barak David and supported by MGG Investment Group, which Mobidictum reported on January 29, 2026. Murka remains a mobile developer of social-casino and casual games, but it is no longer a Blackstone-owned company.
What the 2020 profile covered
GamesBeat’s article, written by Dean Takahashi and published October 4, 2020, described Murka at a point when Blackstone was its majority owner. Murka’s company site says Blackstone acquired the company in 2019. An official Blackstone-related press release from October 2023 also described funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities acquiring a majority stake in 2019. The purchase price was not part of the material reviewed, and none is given here.
When you read the 2020 article, treat it as a snapshot of that period: the portfolio, the audience figures, and the market estimates all describe 2020 conditions, not today.
Who owns Murka now
The ownership story has two stages, and the title’s present-tense framing can blur them.

Two points matter for anyone following the business financially. First, the buyout’s terms were not disclosed, so no valuation or purchase price can be established from public material. Second, nothing in the sources cited here indicates that Murka’s equity is publicly traded, so there is no market price to track.

The 5 million monthly active users claim
Murka’s current website says it reaches more than 5 million monthly active users across more than 200 countries. That page does not date the figure, so treat it as a company statement made on the site as accessed in 2026. It is not an audited measure, and the sources do not show whether it is higher or lower than in earlier years.
GamesBeat reported five million monthly active users in October 2020. That is a dated figure from a 2020 article, not independent confirmation of the current number. Two figures from different years and different sources should not be presented as a trend.

What the 2020 executive comments say
In the 2020 interview, Murka’s chief operating officer, Barak David, told GamesBeat: “It’s a mature market, and there are not a lot of new games.”
In the same interview, he said: “I believe we can jump at least five spaces in the upcoming years.” This was a management ambition stated in 2020. It is not a forecast, and the sources do not show that the company’s position changed as a result.
The sources cited here contain no directly quotable present-day statement from the company about the buyout terms.
A checklist for reading Murka’s public claims
- Check the date on every number. The 2020 revenue and share figures are estimates for 2020 periods only.
- Separate company claims from third-party estimates. The 5 million monthly active users figure is a company website statement; the $40.5 million and 2.1% figures are estimates reported by GamesBeat.
- Confirm current ownership on the company site or the official announcement, not older profiles that describe Blackstone as the owner.
- Do not assume that a title missing from the 2020 list or from the current site is still live or was discontinued.
- Do not infer a buyout valuation. Mobidictum reported that financial terms were not disclosed.
For the 2020 profile itself, see GamesBeat’s article on Murka.
