No reliable current net worth for William “The Refrigerator” Perry can be verified from published sources. The estimates in circulation range from $50,000 to $16 million, and none of them discloses the financial records behind it. Perry’s football record and his well-documented 2016 ring auction are real, but they describe his career and past events, not a balance sheet. This article explains what is established, what is not, and how to judge any net-worth number you come across.
Why no current figure can be verified
Net worth is a snapshot of assets minus liabilities on a given date. Calculating it requires bank and investment balances, property values, debts, and income history. Public figures rarely publish any of that, and the pages that estimate celebrity wealth typically work from press coverage, career earnings guesses, and lifestyle assumptions. None of the estimates reviewed for Perry shows its calculation or cites a financial disclosure, so a precise number would be a guess presented with confidence.
The estimates in circulation
The table below lists every figure found for Perry. Where a source did not explain how it arrived at its number, the cell says so rather than filling the gap.
| Source | Estimate shown | Date shown | Method disclosed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Celebrity Net Worth | $50,000 | Retrieved 2026 | Not stated; the site’s own estimate |
| Net Worth Post | $2 million | 2026 | Not stated |
| RichestLifeStyle.com | $2 million | 2025 | Not stated |
| Cine Net Worth | $16 million | 2025 | Not stated |
| Other listings | $6 million and $10 million | Not stated | Not stated |
The spread between $50,000 and $16 million is too wide to be a measurement of anything. Two pages that agree on $2 million, for example, may simply be copying each other rather than checking records. Repeating any one of these numbers as fact would mislead readers.

What the verifiable record shows
Three categories of reporting are documented. None of them is a net-worth figure, but each explains part of why the topic attracts confusion.
Career statistics
NFL.com’s official career page lists Perry with 138 NFL games, 29.5 sacks, and three offensive touchdowns. His career included stints with the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. These numbers establish his sporting record. They do not show salary, signing bonuses, or endorsement income, and they cannot be converted into an earnings total.

The Super Bowl XX ring
The Pro Football Hall of Fame describes Perry’s Super Bowl XX ring as one he won as a rookie with the 1985 Chicago Bears. NFL.com has also reported that a 10-year-old boy returned the ring to Perry, which shows that the ring changed hands at least once before it was sold. That history matters because later auction reports should not be read as a record of Perry’s ownership at any particular time.
In 2016, The Washington Post reported that the ring had been auctioned for $203,000. That is the sale price of an item, not the money Perry received. The reporting does not establish how the proceeds were divided or whether any of them reached him. Treating the auction as income, or as a sign of his current assets, would overstate what the sale proves.

The 2016 hardship reporting
The same 2016 coverage summarized reporting on Perry’s financial difficulties. The Washington Post cited Rick Telander’s reporting, and CBS Sports summarized a Sports Illustrated profile published at the time. Those accounts describe Perry’s circumstances in 2016. They are not a current status report, and they do not measure his present wealth in either direction. Readers who see “financial trouble” headlines should check the publication date before drawing conclusions about today.
How to judge any net-worth estimate
The same checks apply to Perry or any other public figure. Use this list before accepting a number.
- Date: Does the page show when the estimate was made or last updated? A “2026” label on a page can sit beside figures that were written years earlier.
- Method: Does it explain how the total was built, with asset categories, debts, and income assumptions?
- Primary records: Does it rely on audited statements, court filings, sworn disclosures, or public property and securities records, rather than other websites?
- Agreement with other sources: Do independent outlets reach a similar figure through different reasoning? Agreement that comes from copied numbers does not count.
- Separation of income and wealth: Does the page distinguish a salary, a sale price, or a career statistic from the net worth of a person at a given time?
By these tests, every figure in the table fails at least one, and most fail several. A reader who wants a defensible number would need to start from primary records, which public figures seldom make available.

- Perry played 138 NFL games and won a Super Bowl ring as a rookie with the 1985 Chicago Bears.
- His Super Bowl ring sold at auction for $203,000 in 2016, according to The Washington Post.
- Coverage from 2016 described financial hardship at that time.
- No current net worth for Perry has been verified, and the published estimates are unsourced and conflicting.
Anything beyond those points, including a present-day total, would go beyond the evidence available.
