Home Depot said it offered solar-panel and home-battery sales and installation services in its U.S. stores in 2024, but its report did not identify Tesla as a supplier. Tesla’s documented sales routes include its own channels and channel partners; buyers should check current local availability directly.
What the official sources establish
Home Depot’s FY24 report says: “In 2024, The Home Depot offered solar panel and home battery storage sales and installation services in our stores.” It also reports that approximately 3,800 U.S. customers purchased solar systems there in 2024. Tesla’s 2020 Form 10-K described U.S. residential solar and energy-storage sales through Tesla’s website, stores and galleries, and channel partners. It said channel partners typically sell the products and manage home installation. That filing is historical channel context, not confirmation of current sales terms or a Home Depot arrangement. Tesla’s support materials direct customers to certified installers in areas where Tesla does not install directly. That is a route to investigate, not evidence that any specific installer currently serves a particular address. Tesla certified installer information

Why the Tesla–Home Depot rooftop connection is different
Home Depot has described leasing store rooftop space for commercial solar generation through power-purchase agreements involving Current and Tesla. That arrangement concerns electricity generated on Home Depot buildings; it does not establish that Home Depot retailed Tesla Powerwall or Solar Roof systems to homeowners. What Home Depot’s past solar partnerships do—and do not—show
In a 2019 announcement, Home Depot said it was expanding its relationship with Sunrun and introducing Vivint Solar for residential solar consultations in stores. It described plans to expand Sunrun’s presence to nearly 700 stores. This is historical information only: it is not a current store list, a statement of current partner status, or evidence that either company supplies Tesla products. Solar Roof and Powerwall are different products
Solar Roof is a generation product: it produces electricity. Powerwall is a home battery that stores energy for use later. Tesla presents Solar Roof, Tesla Solar Panels and Powerwall as separate energy-product categories in its support materials. Tesla Energy support
Home Depot’s general reference to solar panels and home batteries therefore cannot, by itself, establish that it offers either of these specific Tesla products. A retailer would need to identify Tesla as the supplier and confirm the product and installation coverage for the buyer’s location.

How to check availability before planning a purchase
- Check Home Depot locally. Ask whether its solar or home-battery service is available for your address, which company sells and installs the system, and whether the proposed equipment is specifically Tesla Powerwall or Solar Roof. Do not treat the 2024 company-wide description as a current local offer.
- Check Tesla’s current options for your address. Use Tesla’s energy product and support pages to see what ordering or installation routes are presented for your area, including certified installers where applicable.
- Confirm the full arrangement in writing. Establish who sells the equipment, who is responsible for installation, and which product is included. A Home Depot solar consultation or a Tesla-related commercial rooftop project is not proof of a residential Tesla retail deal.
Asking these questions matters because the cited sources do not resolve store-by-store Tesla availability, and retail assortment, installer coverage and product availability can change.
