Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning earned a substantial reported theatrical gross, but public information does not prove that it will be profitable regardless of its box-office earnings. Box-office gross is not the same as money Paramount receives, and the available public filings do not disclose the film’s full costs, later-window revenue or final net profit.
What the reported box-office numbers show
Box Office Mojo lists Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning at $598,767,057 worldwide, comprising $197,413,515 domestic and $401,353,542 international. It lists the film’s budget as $350,000,000. These are database figures, not an audited statement of the film’s profit or loss. Box Office Mojo’s listing does not show how much Paramount ultimately received after theaters’ shares or provide a complete title-level cost ledger.
That distinction matters: comparing the listed gross directly with the listed budget does not establish a profit. The budget figure is not a complete accounting of every cost, and the gross is not the studio’s net receipts. The cited public sources do not provide the film’s full marketing and distribution costs, production cost after any incentives, or distributor receipts after exhibitor shares.
What Paramount has disclosed—and what it has not
Paramount Global’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 says that the film’s release drove higher theatrical revenue in the second quarter. The filing also describes corporate revenue categories that extend beyond theaters, including licensing fees from secondary platforms, transactional video-on-demand and electronic sell-through, DVD and Blu-ray sales, and trademark and brand licensing for consumer products, recreation and live events. It does not report how much revenue The Final Reckoning generated in any of those categories.

The filing’s company-wide results should not be mistaken for the movie’s finances: Paramount reported $6.85 billion in revenue, $399 million in operating income and $57 million in net earnings from continuing operations attributable to Paramount for the quarter. Those figures cover the company, not this film. Paramount’s Form 10-Q is useful for understanding its business and reporting period, but it is not a title-level income statement.
Later releases create windows, not proof of profit
Paramount announced that the film would begin streaming on Paramount+ in the United States and Canada on December 4, 2025. That establishes another distribution window, but no revenue amount or profit from that release is disclosed in the announcement. Paramount’s streaming announcement does not quantify the value of the streaming arrangement.

A physical-media release is also documented: Paramount Japan’s official site lists a 4K UHD and Blu-ray set. That confirms a product in that market, not worldwide availability or the film’s physical-media receipts. No cited source gives a title-specific total for streaming, transactional sales, discs or consumer products.

To establish that a film is profitable irrespective of theatrical earnings, the public evidence would need to show that its non-theatrical receipts and other income cover all relevant costs—even if theatrical returns were lower. The available sources establish neither those complete receipts nor those complete costs. They show that Paramount has revenue channels beyond cinemas and that this film reached more than one distribution window, but not that those channels guaranteed a profit.

Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison’s February 25, 2026 earnings-call remarks concerned the company’s slate, not The Final Reckoning individually. He said, “We have scaled from 8 movies to 16 releases this year, and it’s going to be significantly more profitable.” That statement describes the 2026 slate and company outlook; it is not a disclosure of this film’s result. The earnings-call transcript does not supply a title-level profit figure.
The best-supported conclusion is therefore narrower than the headline premise: theatrical gross is only one part of a film’s financial picture, but the public evidence does not establish whether Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning finished in profit. Its substantial reported box office and documented later distribution windows are not enough to prove that it would be profitable no matter what it earned in theaters.
