Micron had not announced a stock split or publicly discussed a plan as of September 21, 2026, according to The Motley Fool. The article’s view that Micron probably would not split soon is an analyst’s forecast—not a company statement or a reliable prediction. A later board decision could change the picture.

What was known about a Micron split

The September 21, 2026 report described Micron shares as back above $1,000 after trading above $1,200 earlier that year. Those were prices at the time of publication, not current quotes. The author cited volatility as a possible reason to doubt a near-term split, but Micron had not disclosed that as management’s reasoning.

No direct statement from Micron management about a planned split was identified in the cited reporting. The absence of an announcement does not rule out a future decision; it means there was no disclosed plan at that point.

What a stock split would—and would not—change

A conventional split increases the number of shares while reducing the price per share proportionally. For example, in a hypothetical 2-for-1 split, an investor holding one share would hold two shares at roughly half the per-share price immediately after the adjustment. The position’s total value and the investor’s proportional ownership would be unchanged by the split itself.

That arithmetic does not create earnings or make the company more valuable. Market trading can move the share price after a split, and a lower nominal price does not guarantee easier trading.

Micron’s share count and past splits

Micron reported 1,129,393,151 common shares outstanding as of June 17, 2026, in its Form 10-Q filed with the SEC. This dated share count is a corporate filing figure, not an indication that a split is planned.

The Motley Fool reported that Micron had split its stock three times historically, most recently in a 2-for-1 split in 2000. Past splits provide context but do not establish what the board will decide in the future.

Recent results do not reveal split plans

For its fiscal third quarter ended May 28, 2026, Micron reported $41.46 billion in revenue and GAAP diluted earnings per share of $24.67. Those results, published in the company’s fiscal Q3 2026 results release, describe the business’s financial performance; they do not show whether directors intend to split the stock.

How to check for an announcement

Because a forecast can become outdated, check Micron’s Investor Relations site and new SEC filings for an official announcement. The cited reporting identified Sanjay Mehrotra as chairman, president and CEO, but did not quote him discussing a split.
