No available source establishes that Chris Eubank Jr or Conor Benn lost half of a rematch purse. The “almost half” claim in a report published on 26 April 2025 concerned potential tax on earnings from their first fight—not a disclosed deduction from the rematch. The rematch coverage describes contract terms on weight, but does not disclose purse amounts or a tax deduction.
What did the “almost half” report actually claim?
A Newspoint report republished by OB News on 26 April 2025 said Eubank Jr and Benn could lose almost half of their prize money to tax on earnings from their April 2025 fight. It did not provide a tax calculation, identify an effective rate for either boxer, or establish what either received after tax. Read the report.
The same secondary report described £15 million as the reported total prize money and £7.5 million as the reported share for each boxer. Those are reported figures, not verified contract terms. They do not establish how much either fighter was paid, how much tax either owed, or a net payout.
Does that claim apply to the rematch?
No. BBC Sport’s 4 July 2025 report on the rematch contract says it retained the 160 lb weight limit and a rehydration clause. It does not report a 50% deduction, a rematch purse, or a tax liability. Read the BBC report.

- EXCEPTIONALLY DURABLE MATERIAL – No matter how hard you punch these gloves make sure to outlast your intense training. The use of advanced caliber Maya Hide ConvEX Skin Leather in the KARA Series training gloves makes them durable and reliable for long-term use while also providing a superior look and feel during Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, Kickboxing, and heavy bag training sessions among other similar sports.
- FULL WRAPAROUND WRIST SUPPORT – A hassle-free design with sufficient support for your wrists. The hook and loop Fastener straps provide a secure fit and make it easy to put on or take off the kickboxing gloves for men and women along with providing better wrist support due to the full wraparound wrist strap, while the dual stitching in the heavy bag gloves makes them durable and resilient for extensive training sessions.
- SWEAT-FREE EXPERIENCE – Bid farewell to those sweaty palms and hands. With multiple ventilation holes strategically placed in the thumb sections of the lightweight boxing gloves, RDX ensures proper airflow management so that its customers get a sweat-free experience. Furthermore, the advanced perforated sheet for breathable ventilation in the palm area is sweat-wicking and minimizes sweat accumulation.
Tax on a person’s earnings is different from a contractual or regulatory deduction from a fight purse. The sources do not establish the tax treatment of either boxer’s earnings or disclose terms showing that half of a rematch purse was withheld. A headline’s percentage cannot, on its own, establish either figure.
What is known about the rematch result and later settlement?
A UFC/Zuffa Boxing profile published on 9 April 2026 says Benn won the rematch by unanimous decision after dropping Eubank twice. It provides event context, not financial terms. See the profile.
