WiCyS and ISC2’s Fall Camp: What the Cybersecurity Certification Program Offered

WiCyS and ISC2’s Fall Camp offered CC training, mentors and exam support, but the 2024 and 2025 cohorts have ended. Here are the historical terms and current study options.

The WiCyS and ISC2 Fall Camp for Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) was a cohort-based training program designed to help participants prepare for ISC2’s entry-level cybersecurity certification. The title refers to the 2024 launch: applications ran August 5–20, 2024, and camp ran September 12–October 12, 2024. That application period has ended. A later Fall 2025 cohort also concluded, and the available announcements do not confirm a 2026 camp or open application period.

What the Fall Camp was—and whether it is open now

WiCyS (Women in CyberSecurity) and ISC2 launched the Fall Camp in 2024 as an education and certification-preparation opportunity centered on ISC2’s Certified in Cybersecurity credential. The 2024 announcement described an entry-level program with no prerequisites or prior work experience required. Applications opened August 5 and closed August 20, 2024; camp ran September 12 through October 12, 2024. WiCyS’s 2024 announcement is the source for those dates and terms.

A subsequent Fall 2025 cohort is also historical, not evidence of a currently recurring schedule. Its event listing specified a 500-member limit and a 14-hour self-paced study commitment; applications closed September 22, 2025, and the program ran October 14–November 14, 2025. WiCyS’s event listing and its 2025 announcement document that cycle. No current 2026 application period is established by those pages, so check WiCyS’s current event listings rather than relying on dates from prior years.

What participants received in the 2024 camp

The original camp was presented as structured preparation for the CC exam, with training and human support rather than a certification or employment guarantee. The 2024 announcement listed:

  • ISC2 self-paced CC training.
  • A WiCyS mentor and an ISC2 technical mentor.
  • Open office hours.
  • Instruction covering security principles; business continuity, disaster recovery and incident response concepts; access control concepts; network security; and security operations.

The 2024 announcement also said the three top participants—assessed using exam scores, experience and application essays—would receive scholarships to the 2025 WiCyS annual conference. It reported that more than 100 women achieved certification in the Spring Camp; that figure describes the spring cohort, not a guaranteed result for Fall Camp.

How the later 2025 cycle differed

The Fall 2025 listing provides a useful record of a later cohort, but its eligibility rules and benefits should not be assumed to apply to a future camp. It described a program limited to 500 WiCyS members, including U.S. and international members, with priority for entry-level applicants. Applicants were asked not to have previously participated or taken the relevant ISC2 training and exam using a free voucher, to commit to completing certification, and to commit 14 hours to self-paced study. Listed benefits included online training, one exam voucher, cohort participation, a WiCyS mentor, a technical mentor, office hours and conference scholarships for three top participants.

These specifics belong to the 2025 cycle. An applicant considering a future offering should confirm membership requirements, voucher terms, time commitment and application dates in that cycle’s own announcement.

What the ISC2 CC certification covers today

The camp’s historical curriculum description is not identical to ISC2’s current exam-domain names. ISC2 currently lists five CC exam domains:

  1. Security principles
  2. Security governance
  3. Identity and access management (IAM) concepts
  4. Networking and cloud security concepts
  5. Security operations and incident response

Use ISC2’s current CC certification page and exam outline for the credential’s current scope. The 2024 camp announcement separately described business continuity and disaster recovery concepts and access control concepts as part of its program curriculum.

How to prepare if the camp is closed

ISC2’s self-study resources remain a direct route for candidates preparing independently. Its CC self-study resources page points candidates to the exam outline, online self-paced training, interactive flash cards, the ISC2 Chapters Community and Study Hub. Start with the current outline and use it to check that any study material matches the exam objectives you plan to sit.

An optional print resource is Mike Chapple’s CC Certified in Cybersecurity Study Guide, 2nd Edition. Wiley lists it as a 272-page paperback published in September 2026, ISBN 978-1-394-45489-1, updated for CC objectives effective 2026–2029. It is an exam-preparation book, not a camp benefit; check its alignment with the current exam outline and its availability before buying.

What the program can—and cannot—promise

A cohort, mentors, training and an exam voucher can make preparation more structured, but they do not guarantee that a participant will pass the CC exam or obtain a cybersecurity job. The 2024 and 2025 announcements describe educational support and selected conference scholarships, not guaranteed certification or employment outcomes. For career planning, treat CC as a starting credential and evaluate it alongside practical skills, experience and the requirements of roles in your target market.
