Vouched announced a $6.3 million financing round on February 27, 2023, to develop its identity-verification platform and expand its support for financial-services and health-tech businesses, including telemedicine and healthcare providers. BHG VC and SpringRock Ventures led the round; prior investors Darrell Cavens and Mark Vadon also participated.

What Vouched raised and who invested

The $6.3 million financing was announced on February 27, 2023. BHG VC and SpringRock Ventures led the round, with Zulily co-founders and prior Vouched investors Darrell Cavens and Mark Vadon participating. Vouched said it would use the capital to enhance its platform, recruit talent, and extend support for financial-services and health-tech businesses. Vouched’s announcement and GeekWire’s contemporaneous report put the company’s total funding after the round at more than $18 million.

Founded in 2018, Vouched was spun out of Madrona Venture Labs, according to GeekWire. The company reported roughly 30 employees at the time of the 2023 announcement. GeekWire’s report

How Vouched’s identity-verification workflow works

Vouched describes an AI and computer-vision system that analyzes identity documents, such as passports and driver’s licenses, compares a person’s selfie with the document photo, and examines text such as addresses. The intended result is a real-time identity and fraud check that businesses can use during online onboarding. Vouched’s product description and GeekWire’s report

For a healthcare provider, these checks can support remote patient onboarding and Know Your Patient (KYP) processes; for financial-services businesses, they can support Know Your Customer (KYC) checks. Vouched positioned the workflow as a way to reduce onboarding friction while helping regulated businesses manage identity fraud and access. The company did not publish independently audited head-to-head performance results in the cited announcement, so investor claims about its speed, accuracy, configurability, scalability, or cost should be understood as claims, not controlled comparisons.

Why Vouched targeted telemedicine and healthcare

Remote care depends on providers being able to onboard patients without an in-person identity check. Vouched’s expansion was aimed at that need, as well as the compliance and fraud concerns that come with providing regulated services online. The company framed the opportunity in the broader shift of business processes to digital channels and growth in telehealth and other consumer-facing services. Vouched’s announcement

SpringRock Ventures Managing Director Kirsten Morbeck described the demand as a need for “high reliability, real-time identity verification” in consumer-facing businesses, including telehealth and banking. That is an investor’s rationale for the investment, not an independent product assessment. Vouched’s announcement

What Vouched reported about its customers and reach

At the time of the 2023 announcement, Vouched said it served more than 300 banks, fintech companies, and healthcare providers, and that its platform covered more than 85% of the global population. It also named Alloy and Hims Health among its customers. These are company-reported figures, not independently verified customer or coverage audits. Vouched’s announcement

Later funding and product direction

Vouched’s 2023 financing is not its latest funding milestone. In a separate 2025 company announcement, Vouched reported a $17 million Series A and described expansion toward verifying both human and AI-agent identities. That later announcement is a distinct development and should not be confused with the $6.3 million financing announced in 2023. Vouched’s 2025 announcement
