Wang apologized and said he accepted the consequences, but later denied online claims that he sold company secrets or took money. Xiaomi’s publicly reported notice did not identify the information involved or explain the alleged conflict.
What Xiaomi said about Wang Teng’s dismissal
According to reports citing an internal notice from Xiaomi’s Professional Ethics Committee, the company said Wang had disclosed confidential information, had conflicts of interest and committed other serious violations. The Paper reported that the notice was sent at 10:15 p.m. China time on September 8, 2025. Xiaomi reportedly cited its Employee Violation and Misconduct Handling Measures and Integrity and Clean Governance Code, and said it had dismissed him.
The public record is not a complete investigation report: the reported notice does not set out the underlying evidence, identify the information allegedly disclosed or describe the conflict. The allegations are Xiaomi’s stated disciplinary grounds; they are not, by themselves, proof of a criminal offense. Who was Wang Teng at Redmi?
Contemporary Chinese media reports described Wang as Redmi general manager, head of its marketing department and a Xiaomi China-market marketing executive. He was also a visible Redmi spokesperson, often representing the brand in launch communications and online discussions. IT Home reported his internal rank as level 21, which it described as a middle-management leadership grade.

Career accounts reported that Wang joined Xiaomi in 2016, moved to the Redmi team as a product director in March 2020, spent a period on rotation at Xiaomi’s Henan operation, returned to headquarters in 2023 and became Redmi brand general manager in 2024. These milestones come from media accounts of his career, not a published Xiaomi biography. See China National Radio and the National Business Daily.
What Wang Teng said—and what he denied
In a post late on September 8, Wang apologized, said he had made mistakes and accepted the consequences. He thanked Xiaomi’s leadership for its trust and training, said he was sorry to leave and said he would continue supporting Xiaomi and Redmi. His apology did not specify which alleged violations he was acknowledging. The Weibo post reproduces the reported notice and his response.

On September 9, Wang addressed online speculation. He denied that he had stolen and sold confidential information or accepted money from others. He acknowledged failures in his work and said he was reflecting on them. How the events unfolded
- June 19, 2025: Reports said Xiaomi public-relations executive Wang Hua posted that he had signed a separate confidentiality agreement and was under protection by Xiaomi’s confidentiality office; a later comment reportedly said Wang Teng had received one too. What his departure means for Redmi
Wang’s removal was a management and communications change: he was a prominent public representative of Redmi as well as a reported senior marketing executive. His departure meant the brand lost a familiar spokesperson, but it does not show that Redmi’s product operations stopped or that its roadmap changed. The available coverage does not establish a sales impact, a successor or a later leadership announcement. Gizchina’s coverage discussed the potential communications gap, but not evidence of a business disruption.
