Systems Limited (PSX: SYS) trading was scheduled to pause on May 29–30, 2025, so the Pakistan Stock Exchange could implement a five-for-one share adjustment: face value fell from PKR 10 to PKR 2, while the share count rose fivefold and paid-up capital stayed unchanged. PSX announced that trading would resume June 2, 2025, subject to the company meeting relevant requirements. These are historical dates, not a notice of a new suspension in 2026.
Why was SYS trading suspended on PSX?
In notice PSX/N-539, published May 23, 2025, the Pakistan Stock Exchange said a single-day book closure on May 31 would give effect to Systems Limited’s face-value change. To accommodate the corporate action, ready-market trading was scheduled to be suspended on Thursday, May 29, and Friday, May 30. May 28 was a government-declared public holiday.
The notice covered a change in face value from PKR 10 to PKR 2. It did not state Systems Limited’s rationale for choosing the action. PSX named Syed Ahmad Abbas, Chief Listing Officer, and Jawad H. Hashmi, Chief Market Operations Officer, on the notice. Read PSX Notice PSX/N-539 (May 23, 2025).
What happened to the share count, price reference and paid-up capital?
PSX said SYS’s total shares would rise from 293,116,150 to 1,465,580,750—a fivefold increase—while paid-up capital would remain unchanged. In the notice’s words: “The total number of shares of SYS will be increased from 293,116,150 shares to 1,465,580,750 shares, however, the paid-up capital of the Company will remain unchanged.”
#1 Best Overall
For the first trading session after the pause, PSX set the opening-price reference at one fifth of SYS’s closing price on the last trading day, May 27, 2025. This is a mechanical adjustment corresponding to the fivefold increase in shares. It does not by itself mean the company’s business became more valuable, or that the stock became cheaper in economic terms: a smaller per-share price must be considered alongside the larger number of shares.
When did Systems Limited trading resume?
PSX announced that ready- and futures-market trading would resume Monday, June 2, 2025, subject to fulfillment of relevant company requirements. The notice establishes the scheduled date, not the processing date for any individual shareholder’s depository account.

The notice documents the timetable and mechanics of the 2025 share adjustment. It does not explain the company’s reason for choosing the action, establish later trading events, or provide an individual investor’s account-credit schedule. Systems Limited is described on PSX as a Pakistan-incorporated company principally engaged in software development, software trading and business-process outsourcing.
