Some Koodo customers were reported to face a net $7 monthly bill increase starting in March 2026. It was not described as a price hike for every Koodo customer, and “this month” in the original March 2 report refers to March—not October 2026.
Why did some Koodo bills go up by $7?
MobileSyrup reported on March 2, 2026, that some customers on older plans had received notice of an increase taking effect in March. In the example it published, the monthly plan charge went from $35 to $47, while the autopay discount grew from $5 to $10. The plan charge therefore rose by $12, but the larger discount offset $5, leaving a net increase of $7 per month. MobileSyrup’s report described the example as a $35/60GB plan dating from August 2024; those figures are one reported customer’s experience, not a current offer or a universal Koodo price.

The report does not identify every affected plan or say how many accounts were affected. It also does not establish that a similar increase is happening now. If your bill changed, check your own bill and Self Serve account for the plan, discount, amount, and effective date that apply to you.
How to check your bill and plan
- Review the bill message. Look for a notice describing the change and its effective date, then compare the plan charge and discounts on the bill before and after the change.
- Check Koodo Self Serve. Koodo says notices of rate-plan or add-on price increases are sent through a message on the bill and in Self Serve at least 30 days before the change. Its price-change help page directs customers to explore available plans and make changes in Self Serve.
- Compare the full monthly cost before switching. Consider the price after discounts, included data and calling, whether a price or discount is temporary, coverage where you use your phone, and any device or account terms that would change. The available information here does not establish current competing plan prices or coverage.
What notice and contract protections apply?
Koodo’s help page describes its own notice practice: “If there is a price increase to your rate plan or add-ons, Koodo will notify you at least 30 days prior to the change through a message on your bill and in your Self Serve account.” That statement explains Koodo’s policy; it does not independently verify the notice or contract terms for any particular account.

The CRTC Wireless Code treats key contract terms differently from other terms during a commitment period. A provider generally cannot change key terms without the account holder’s or an authorized user’s informed, express consent, except for changes that clearly benefit the customer by reducing a rate or increasing a usage allowance for the same service. For other contract terms during a commitment period, the Code requires at least 30 calendar days’ notice explaining the change and when it takes effect. As the Wireless Code puts it: “This notice must explain the change and when it will take effect.” That sentence concerns notice of changes to other contract terms and related documents during a commitment period; it is not a blanket rule covering every price change.
MobileSyrup’s March report described a 30-day penalty-free cancellation window. Whether the rules were followed for a specific customer depends on that customer’s contract, notice, and circumstances; the report and Code do not decide an individual account dispute.
Separately, the CRTC’s Telecom Regulatory Policy 2026-43, dated March 12, 2026, says new protections prohibiting activation and modification fees take effect June 12, 2026. It also describes a prohibition on changing key contract terms, including the minimum monthly price, during the commitment period. That policy does not adjudicate the reported increase or establish that all Koodo customers were affected.
