Rad Power Bikes confirmed on November 9, 2023, that it would close its Brooklyn retail store, which had opened in October 2022. The company said it was making organizational changes to improve efficiency, but did not disclose the store’s closing date or how many employees were affected. The announcement came after layoffs and a planned withdrawal from European sales; Rad did not identify a single cause for the Brooklyn closure.
What Rad Power Bikes announced about the Brooklyn store
GeekWire reported that Rad Power Bikes confirmed the closure on November 9, 2023. The Brooklyn RadRetail location had opened in October 2022. At the time, the company declined to provide a closing date, the number of employees affected, or an updated headcount. GeekWire’s report did not establish when the store actually shut its doors.
In a statement emailed to GeekWire, Rad said: “The Rad Power Bikes team has worked diligently to ensure the company is in the best position possible to navigate the realities of the current market and become a sustainable, enduring business. While we have made some difficult decisions over the last several months, it has become necessary to make organizational changes to drive further efficiency in our business.” The statement describes the company’s rationale; it does not establish that one specific market condition caused the store closure. How the closure fit into Rad’s 2023 cutbacks
The Brooklyn announcement followed a period of other reductions. GeekWire reported that in July 2023 Rad announced it would stop selling to customers in the UK and European Union starting in 2024, alongside fewer than 40 planned layoffs. Those cuts were described as the company’s fifth round of layoffs since April 2021. This context shows that the store closure came amid broader organizational changes, but the company did not disclose a more specific explanation for the Brooklyn decision. GeekWire

What changed at Rad Power Bikes after the closure
The Brooklyn closure is a historical event, not a complete description of Rad’s current ownership or operations. Rad’s March 6, 2026, announcement says Life EV completed a court-approved acquisition of the Rad Power Bikes brand, intellectual property, inventory, and certain operating assets on March 5, 2026. The announcement says Life EV intended to continue retail operations under the Rad Power Bikes brand in the United States. Those are statements about the transaction and the new owner’s plans. Rad’s warranty page says the ownership change took effect February 27, 2026, and that the former operator filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 15, 2025. The page also says the current owner has no obligation to provide warranty or other service for products purchased before December 15, 2025. Owners should consult the current warranty policy for the terms that apply to their purchase and contact the company about their individual situation.

Does Rad have a Brooklyn store or repair provider now?
Rad’s current locations page advertises retail partners, test rides, and more than 1,200 service partners nationwide. That company-published count does not identify a Brooklyn-area provider, and the page reviewed does not establish that Rad owns or operates a Brooklyn store. Check the Rad locations page for current options, then confirm directly with any provider that it services your model, can obtain the parts you need, and will accept the work.
Rad’s homepage currently lists Rad-branded bikes including the RadRunner Electric Cargo Utility Bike and RadWagon 5 Electric Cargo Bike, but their presence does not indicate that a New York retail location is open. Rad Power Bikes
