The headline claim that the company’s founder, Colin Thomson, “owes them millions” summarizes those allegations and reported estimates; it is not a court finding that Thomson personally owes a particular total. Kast later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, while Jim Cornette and Arcadian Vanguard pursued a separate civil suit alleging that advertising revenue was diverted or withheld.
What podcasters alleged about Kast Media
In September 2023, Podnews summarized Coffeezilla’s reporting on creators who said Kast Media had not paid them. The creators named included Theo Von, Brendan Schaub, Whitney Cummings, Brian Last and Jim Cornette. The accounts are public allegations, not findings by a court. The coverage also relayed allegations about minimum guarantees, which should likewise be understood as claims made by the video’s subjects.
The figures associated with the story refer to different things: a creator’s estimate of what creators collectively said they were owed, amounts listed or claimed in bankruptcy, and Kast’s reported balance-sheet totals. They should not be added together or treated as interchangeable measures of a final debt.
How Kast’s creator relationships worked
Arcadian Vanguard’s bankruptcy filings describe an advertising-agent relationship dating to 2018: Kast sold advertising for the shows and kept a share of the revenue. The parties disputed aspects of the relationship, including contract status and performance. In its October 2024 opposition to Kast’s proposed bankruptcy plan, Arcadian Vanguard alleged late or missing payments, irregular accounting and other problems. Those statements describe the creditor’s position in a court filing, not findings that a judge established as fact.

| $456,398 | Kast’s bankruptcy filing, as reported by Bloomberg Law on March 14, 2024 | The scheduled claim for Theo Von | A scheduled claim figure; it is not the same measure as Von’s earlier collective estimate |
| Nearly $700,000 in assets; more than $6.3 million in liabilities | Kast’s balance sheet as of January 31, 2024, reported by Bloomberg Law on March 14, 2024 | The company’s reported assets and liabilities at that date | Company balance-sheet figures, not a determination of what any particular creator would recover |
| $250,442.79 | Arcadian Vanguard’s proof-of-claim materials filed in the bankruptcy | An unsecured claim associated with Jim Cornette and Arcadian Vanguard | The filing accepted the scheduled amount while reserving the right to amend it after an accounting and examination; Kast disputed aspects of the claim |

What happened in Kast Media’s bankruptcy
Kast Media filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California in March 2024. Chapter 11 is a bankruptcy process for a business; creditors may file claims, and a proposed plan sets out how the case is to proceed. A scheduled debt, a creditor’s filed claim and a final court judgment are distinct procedural things. In this case, some claims were contested, so a listed amount should not automatically be read as an amount finally established or paid.
The docket index lists Kast’s plan as confirmed on May 28, 2025. It also lists the Subchapter V trustee’s September 1, 2025 report of no distribution, alongside the case figures in the table. The entry does not support a simple claim that every creditor received nothing, nor does it state a recovery amount for each creator. A later adversary-case complaint by River Donaghey appears in the bankruptcy docket mirror on September 16, 2026; that filing shows post-confirmation docket activity but does not resolve Cornette and Arcadian Vanguard’s separate lawsuit.

Arcadian Vanguard’s claim and Kast’s response
Arcadian Vanguard’s proof-of-claim materials identify $250,442.79 as an unsecured claim associated with the company and Cornette. The filing says Arcadian Vanguard accepted the amount scheduled for the claim while reserving the possibility of amending it after further accounting and examination. Kast’s objection challenged aspects of the claim, including standing. The amount is therefore a disputed bankruptcy claim, not a court judgment fixing what Kast or Thomson must pay.
In its plan opposition, Arcadian Vanguard wrote that “The debtor constantly had issues making payments on time, as well as with supplying detailed accounting to correspond with the payments.” That sentence is the creditor’s assertion in its filing; it should not be mistaken for a judicial conclusion.

The separate civil suit against Thomson and others
In January 2025, Cornette and Arcadian Vanguard filed a separate complaint in Los Angeles County. They alleged that advertising revenue that belonged to them was diverted or withheld. The complaint names Colin Thomson, Christine Thomson, Rod Thomson, Matthew Yu, PodcastOne and LiveOne, among others. Those are plaintiffs’ allegations, not proof that any defendant committed the alleged acts.
An indexed tentative ruling dated December 1, 2025 concerns demurrers and a motion to strike in that civil action. A tentative ruling is not a final disposition. The available court material does not establish the case’s final status as of October 8, 2026, so it would be inaccurate to describe the allegations as resolved or to state an outcome not shown in the record.
