Shape’s April 21, 2025 shopping feature listed the shoe at $102, reduced from $145, at HOKA.com. The feature also named Road Runner Sports as a retailer, but neither retailer’s current Clifton 9 stock or price is established here. The offer should be treated as historical rather than a live deal.

What the podiatrists said—and what that does not mean
Shape quoted Bay Area podiatrist Dr. Megan Ishibashi describing the Clifton 9 as a “classic for all-day comfort” and crediting its lightweight feel and moderate cushioning for walking. Podiatrist Julie Schottenstein, DPM, said the knit upper “[It] also allows for the foot to expand, as opposed to less-flexible material.” These are comments attributed to two experts in a shopping feature; they do not establish universal podiatrist endorsement or show that the shoe treats a foot condition.

Clifton 9 specifications from HOKA
HOKA describes the Clifton 9 as an everyday running shoe. Its U.S. women’s product page lists a weight of 7.30 oz and a 5.00 mm heel-to-toe drop. These are manufacturer-provided specifications, not results from independent testing.

What the APMA Seal tells you
HOKA says the Clifton 9 has the APMA Seal. The American Podiatric Medical Association says submitted products are reviewed by a group of podiatrists, including consideration of safety, quality-control, and other information. APMA also says it is not a testing laboratory, evaluates only products submitted to it, and does not compare competing products. The seal is not proof that the Clifton 9 is best for a particular person or that it prevents injury or treats plantar fasciitis, arthritis, bunions, or another condition.
