NVIDIA reported sharply higher revenue and earnings on November 19, 2025, but its shares’ initial post-report rise reversed the next day. The episode shows why a company can post strong results while its stock falls: investors also weigh expectations for future growth, customers’ returns on AI spending and broader market conditions. The available reporting does not establish one definitive cause for the reversal.
What happened to NVIDIA stock after earnings?
NVIDIA released results for its third quarter of fiscal 2026 on November 19, 2025. In an article published the following day, Futurism reported that the shares rose more than 4% when trading resumed in the morning, then fell by more than 4% over the course of November 20. Those figures describe an intraday sequence, not the closing price or a current quote. Futurism’s November 20 report
The distinction matters: an early gain followed by an intraday decline is not the same as saying the stock fell immediately on the earnings release, or that it closed down by a particular amount. The report establishes the sequence, but not a single cause for it.
How strong were NVIDIA’s reported results?
The quarter ended October 26, 2025. NVIDIA reported year-over-year growth in revenue, Data Center sales and GAAP net income, alongside a higher forecast for the following quarter. The company’s release provides these reported figures. NVIDIA’s November 19, 2025 results announcement

| Measure | Quarter ended October 26, 2025 | Comparison or outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $57.006 billion | Up 22% from the previous quarter and 62% from the year-ago quarter |
| Data Center revenue | $51.2 billion | Up 25% sequentially and 66% year over year |
| GAAP net income | $31.910 billion | Up 65% year over year |
| Diluted earnings per share | $1.30 GAAP; $1.30 non-GAAP | Both measures reported by NVIDIA |
| Revenue outlook for Q4 fiscal 2026 | $65.0 billion | Company forecast, plus or minus 2% |
These results help explain why the report was described as strong. They do not show by themselves whether the figures exceeded market expectations: the cited sources do not provide a reliable analyst-consensus comparison for this episode. Nor does a strong quarter dictate how shares must move afterward.
Why can a stock fall after strong earnings?
A share price reflects what investors expect about future performance as well as what a company has already earned. NVIDIA’s results measured sales and profit; they did not settle whether its largest customers will earn enough from AI infrastructure to justify their spending.

Investors were weighing customers’ AI returns
Futurism quoted Robert Pavlik, senior portfolio manager at Dakota Wealth, via Reuters, describing concern that hyperscalers might be spending too much to build AI infrastructure even as chip suppliers benefit. That is an attributed investor interpretation, not proof that the concern caused NVIDIA’s intraday move. It highlights the difference between NVIDIA’s revenue from selling computing capacity and the eventual returns its customers may earn on that investment. Futurism’s account of the attributed investor view
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said in the earnings announcement, “Blackwell sales are off the charts, and cloud GPUs are sold out.” That is management’s statement about demand; it is not independent confirmation or a guarantee of future sales or returns.

Interest-rate expectations were broader market context
The same Futurism report pointed to reduced expectations for a Federal Reserve rate cut in December after a better-than-expected September jobs report. This was presented as a wider market headwind, not a demonstrated NVIDIA-specific trigger. CBS News covered the December 2025 rate-cut outlook at the time. - It shows: NVIDIA reported substantial year-over-year growth, and the next day’s reported trading moved from a morning gain to a decline over the day.
- It does not show: that the market rejected the company’s results, that AI spending concerns alone drove the move, or that a reported intraday change equals the closing result.
- It cannot answer: how much each factor contributed. The cited coverage identifies possible context, not a measured breakdown of causes.
For this historical episode, the sound conclusion is limited: strong reported financial performance coexisted with a reversal in the shares, amid questions about AI investment returns and changing rate expectations. A later NVIDIA report is a separate event: the company announced $96.2 billion in Q2 fiscal 2027 revenue on August 26, 2026. That later result does not explain the November 2025 price action.
