In an employee message reported by AirlineGeeks, president and CEO Thomas Hsieh announced that the airline would cease operations immediately on November 26, 2025. How New Pacific’s plans changed
The airline, formerly known as Northern Pacific, initially planned to connect North America and Asia through Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Those transpacific flights never materialized. It instead operated scheduled domestic service, including Ontario, California–Las Vegas, with expansion to Nashville and Reno described in reporting on its shutdown.

What should I do if my airline stops flying?
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) offers general guidance for passengers when an airline ceases operations. It does not establish that New Pacific made a particular refund, rebooking, or reimbursement offer. Contact the card issuer that handled the purchase and ask whether you can dispute the charge. DOT says the issuer generally must receive notice within 60 days after the first statement listing the charge. Check the issuer’s rules and act promptly; a refund is not guaranteed.

If you paid by debit card or bought travel insurance
Ask your debit-card issuer whether it offers any voluntary protections. If you have travel insurance, review the policy and contact the insurer to check eligibility. DOT advises contacting the insurer before making alternative arrangements if you are insured.
If you are stranded
Contact airlines serving your destination and ask whether they will accept your original ticket, offer confirmed or standby travel, or sell you a replacement ticket at a discount. These are possibilities to ask about, not benefits passengers are guaranteed.

If the airline is in bankruptcy
A passenger may be able to file a proof of claim. DOT cautions that unsecured creditors may receive only a small fraction of what they are owed after higher-priority claims are addressed. A claim is not a promise of repayment.
What the court filing says about the workforce
The January 2026 filing put New Pacific’s pre-reduction workforce at approximately 130 and reported six salaried employees as of the January 26 petition date. It also said that, before reductions, 25% of the workforce was in Alaska, 15% in Florida, and 10% in California. These figures describe the workforce in the filing; they do not quantify the airline’s losses.

What the shutdown means for the airline’s authority
DOT distinguishes its economic authority over an airline from the Federal Aviation Administration’s safety authority. DOT says its Air Carrier Fitness Division monitors licensed carriers’ operations and financial condition. The agency’s general guidance says a carrier that begins service and later ceases has one year to resume before its economic authority may be terminated for dormancy, subject to notice, updated fitness information, and authorization requirements.
