How demand and cash-market reports fit in
Garret Arndorfer, a hedging strategist with AgMarket.Net, said the start of grilling season was supporting beef demand. He also described a recent cash-market surge led by lighter cattle. That is his interpretation of market support, not proof that seasonal demand caused a specific share of the futures gain.

USDA Economic Research Service commentary published August 19, 2026, later described calf supplies for feedlot placement as tighter year over year heading into late 2026 and early 2027. At the same time, it lowered its second-half 2026 cattle-price outlook based on weaker price data, while indicating tighter supplies continued to support prices in 2027.
