Floyd Mayweather said the money Logan Paul was waiting for came from pay-per-view proceeds that take time to arrive. But Paul later said he had not been paid in full, and Mayweather denied that claim. Reporting through March 2026 does not establish the contract terms or settle whether any balance remains due.
What Mayweather said about the delay
In a February 2022 interview on The Pivot Podcast, Mayweather described the disputed money as back-end pay-per-view revenue: “The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while.” BoxingScene reported that Mayweather said he was still receiving checks from fights held “seven or eight years” earlier and urged Paul to be patient and appreciate what Mayweather characterized as a major payday. BoxingScene’s account of the interview presents Mayweather’s explanation, not proof of the parties’ payment terms or the amount paid.
GMA News likewise reported Mayweather’s comments, describing the bout as an eight-round exhibition. His comparison to checks from earlier fights was his reason for saying that delayed proceeds were possible; it does not independently show when Paul was owed money or whether the same payment schedule applied to their event. Mayweather said the accusation was false
At a June 2022 press conference, Mayweather rejected Paul’s claim, saying it was “truly false.” MMAWeekly reported his remarks and his argument that Paul would not seek another payday if he had not been paid. Paul’s later allegation about an unpaid balance
On March 3, 2026, Complex reported that Paul again alleged an unpaid balance of about $1.5 million. According to Paul’s account, the amount related to a pre-sale of the fight using his likeness; he said the arrangement involved $10 million and entitled him to 15 percent. These figures and the claimed entitlement are Paul’s allegations, not verified contract terms or a finding that the money is owed.
