Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA one-year-old Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan can be the smarter buy if its price is meaningfully below a comparable new car’s negotiated out-the-door cost—and the used car’s mileage, condition, equipment, and remaining warranty justify the difference. But “one year old” alone does not prove a bargain: compare the exact trim and model year, because the EQS changed for 2025.
Why a one-year-old EQS may be the better financial choice
The financial case is straightforward: if a nearly new EQS offers the configuration you want for less than an equivalent new one, you may avoid paying the new-car premium while still buying a relatively recent vehicle. That can be appealing with a luxury EV, where the original price is substantial.
The key is establishing the actual savings. A used asking price is not automatically a discount, and a new car’s sticker price is not necessarily what a buyer pays. Compare the used car’s price with a negotiated new-car offer for the same trim, drivetrain, and equipment, including dealer fees, incentives, and financing terms.
Start with the new-car price—but don’t treat MSRP as the deal price
Mercedes-Benz USA displayed these U.S. starting MSRPs on its EQS Sedan page as of October 8, 2026. They are starting prices, not transaction prices, and do not account for options, dealer charges, incentives, or negotiated offers.

Check the model year: the 2025 EQS received notable updates
A one-year-old EQS may not be equivalent to the current new model. In an April 10, 2024 announcement, Mercedes-Benz said the 2025 EQS Sedan received a battery with 118 kWh of usable capacity, along with a revised front fascia and grille and changes to standard and optional rear-passenger comfort equipment. The company wrote: “All 2025 EQS Sedan models benefit from an all-new battery with an increased usable capacity of 118 kWh for improved electric range.”

That update can affect the comparison between a pre-2025 used example and a newer car. Confirm the model year and exact equipment rather than assuming that two cars with the same trim badge have identical specifications. The announcement describes the 2025 model-year update; it does not establish that every later model year is unchanged. See the Mercedes-Benz Media Newsroom release for the stated changes.
Compare the used car with a genuinely equivalent new one
Build the comparison around the specific car, not just its age. Two EQS Sedans can differ substantially in drivetrain, factory options, wheels, included equipment, condition, and remaining coverage.

- Configuration: Match trim and drivetrain, factory options, wheels, and included equipment as closely as possible.
- Use and condition: Check mileage, accident and service history, tire condition, and any visible or reported damage.
- Warranty: Establish the in-service date, remaining vehicle coverage, battery coverage, and whether the car is certified pre-owned.
- Total cost: Include delivery or dealer fees, any applicable new-car incentives, and the financing terms available for each option.
Then calculate the difference between the used car’s total asking price and the new car’s written out-the-door offer. If that gap is small, a new car may be preferable for its newer model year, chosen options, and full applicable warranty. If the gap is substantial and the used car passes your checks, buying used may offer better value. There is no single discount threshold that applies to every EQS; the answer depends on the specific cars and offers.
Verify warranty coverage by VIN and model year
The 2025 U.S. EQ Service and Warranty Information booklet specifies high-voltage battery coverage for the EQS for 10 years or 155,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to the booklet’s conditions. That is battery coverage—not a promise that every vehicle component is covered for that duration.

Do not assume that a one-year-old car has a particular amount of coverage left. Ask a Mercedes-Benz dealer to confirm the vehicle’s in-service date, mileage, warranty status, and applicable terms for its VIN. Mercedes-Benz hosts model-year-specific warranty and service documents; consult the booklet for the actual vehicle rather than applying the 2025 booklet to every model year.

Before committing, make sure the EQS’s charging compatibility and access suit your home and regular routes. Verify the individual car’s charging equipment and software or features, rather than relying on assumptions based on trim or model year.

Battery condition should be established for the specific vehicle. Do not infer degradation—or assume the battery is in like-new condition—from age or mileage alone. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified Mercedes EV service provider and a written explanation of the car’s warranty coverage can help you understand what you are buying.
A practical decision rule
- Get a new-car benchmark. Request a written out-the-door offer for a new EQS with the trim, drivetrain, and equipment you would actually buy.
- Identify the used car precisely. Record its model year, configuration, options, mileage, history, condition, and fees.
- Confirm warranty and vehicle condition. Verify VIN-specific coverage and arrange an appropriate inspection, including battery condition.
- Compare total costs. Account for incentives and financing terms on the new car as well as fees and any relevant certification on the used one.
- Decide whether the price gap pays for the trade-offs. Consider the used car’s age, use, condition, equipment, and model-year differences against the savings you have actually verified.
