The owners of Mandurah’s Alfresco Indian Cuisine took over Edenvale Heritage Tea Rooms in Pinjarra in 2025. A report published on 29 October 2025 said the family-owned company Shureya Pty Ltd had been operating the venue for just under a month, succeeding Groundswell.
Who took over Edenvale Heritage Tea Rooms?
PerthNow, carrying a Mandurah Times report by Ava Berryman, reported on 29 October 2025 that the owners of Alfresco Indian Cuisine had officially taken over the Shire of Murray’s Edenvale Heritage Tea Rooms. The report identified Shureya Pty Ltd as the family-owned company operating the venue and said it had been in place for just under a month at the time of publication. PerthNow’s report
What changed at Edenvale?
The reported plan was to keep Edenvale’s identity distinct while expanding what visitors could eat there: traditional high tea alongside a new Indian dinner service. Venue manager Sam Bahuguna said, “We’ve kept it as a separate identity,” adding that the aim was to enhance Edenvale rather than let the restaurant’s existing identity replace it. PerthNow’s report
Bahuguna also said the new dinner service would give Pinjarra locals another option for Indian food. That is her view of local dining choices, not an independently measured assessment.

How did the changeover happen?
The Shire of Murray announced on 6 February 2024 that it had selected Groundswell to operate the 130+-year-old Edenvale Homestead following a competitive expression-of-interest process. Groundswell operator Lynne Gould described a program including brunch, high tea, casual dining and ticketed community events, with an emphasis on local produce. Shire of Murray announcement

What is Edenvale, beyond the tea rooms?
Edenvale is part of the Edenvale Heritage Precinct, a broader cultural and community site in Pinjarra. The Shire lists a vintage machinery museum, art gallery, art and craft shop, art school, quilters shop and historical society among the precinct’s features. Its 2023 operator notice said the annual Pinjarra Festival attracts more than 25,000 people to the grounds each year; that is the Shire’s figure as published in 2023, not a newly verified attendance count.
