Milwaukee Tool is owned by Techtronic Industries Company Limited (TTI), which acquired the tool company in 2005. Milwaukee’s base in Brookfield, Wisconsin, is a separate fact from its ownership: the brand is part of TTI, not an independent company or a division of the City of Milwaukee.

Who owns Milwaukee Tool?

Milwaukee Tool is a subsidiary of Techtronic Industries Company Limited, commonly called TTI. TTI lists MILWAUKEE in its professional tool portfolio, and Milwaukee describes itself as a TTI subsidiary. Milwaukee Tool’s company statement and TTI’s company profile support that relationship.

That means the name “Milwaukee” refers to the tool brand and company, while TTI is its parent company. It does not mean Milwaukee Tool is owned by the City of Milwaukee.

When did TTI acquire Milwaukee Tool?

Milwaukee says it began in 1924 and that TTI acquired the company in 2005. TTI’s history also records the Milwaukee acquisition in 2005. Milwaukee’s company history says the acquisition accompanied a renewed focus on solving problems for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades; the TTI history confirms the acquisition year.

The 1924 date describes Milwaukee’s stated origins; it should not be taken to mean that the present corporate structure has existed unchanged since then.

Where is Milwaukee Tool based?

Milwaukee Tool identifies itself as based in Brookfield, Wisconsin. That location does not change the parent-company relationship: Milwaukee is Wisconsin-based, while TTI is its owner. The city in the brand’s name is not evidence of municipal ownership.

Does one person own Milwaukee Tool?

Not according to TTI’s description of its ownership. TTI says the Pudwill family remains its largest shareholder and that the rest of its ownership is held largely by institutional investors. That describes TTI’s shareholder structure; it does not mean one family member personally owns Milwaukee Tool outright.

What kind of business is Milwaukee Tool?

TTI places MILWAUKEE in its professional tool portfolio. Milwaukee describes its work as focused on professional construction users and identifies M18 as one of its cordless tool systems. These details describe the brand’s business and products; they do not change the ownership answer.
