Who owns Lamborghini directly?
Lamborghini’s 2026 Organizational Model Pursuant to D. Lgs. No. 231/2001 states that Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. is wholly owned—100%—by Volkswagen Finance Luxembourg. That makes Volkswagen Finance Luxembourg the company’s direct legal shareholder, rather than Volkswagen AG.
The document also says Lamborghini is subject to the direction and coordination of AUDI AG. These are distinct roles: the shareholder holds the ownership interest, while Audi is identified as the company directing and coordinating Lamborghini. AUDI AG forms part of the Volkswagen Group, the broader corporate group.
How Lamborghini became part of the group
Lamborghini was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini in 1963, according to the company’s history page. Its milestones page says the Audi Group was selected as the buyer and Lamborghini became part of the Audi-Volkswagen Group in 1998. The same page says Megatech held a majority of Lamborghini’s shares until 1998.
