Bass Pro Shops sells Excel monofilament under its own brand, but its public product listings do not identify the factory or contract manufacturer that makes it. Claims naming another fishing-line company are unverified unless supported by a direct disclosure.
What is Bass Pro Excel fishing line?
Excel is monofilament fishing line sold under the Bass Pro Shops brand. Bass Pro Shops describes it as a copolymer formula and advertises abrasion resistance, consistent diameter, knot strength, and a silicone finish. Those are retailer-stated product features, not independent test results. See the Bass Pro Shops product listing.
The retailer also says: “Our Bass Pro Shops® Excel® Monofilament Line is manufactured under strict quality control standards.” That statement does not identify the factory or say which company manufactures the line.
Does Bass Pro Shops disclose who physically makes it?
Not in the reviewed official listings. They identify Bass Pro Shops as the brand but do not name a contract manufacturer, factory, or country of origin for the monofilament. They also do not establish whether the supplier is the same across variants or production runs.

What should you check before buying Excel?
Excel is offered in different strengths, colors, and spool formats. The standard product page shows a 330-yard spool, while a separate listing covers jumbo spools; specifications depend on the selected option. Check the specific variant for pound-test, diameter, color, and line length rather than assuming one specification applies to every spool.

- Excellent Material:GUMMAX braided fishing line 50lb is constructed from 8 high-strength PE (polyethylene) strands, woven with professional technology to form a tight-knit structure. The fishing line braid's strength surpasses traditional 4-strand PE lines, resisting loosening effectively. The 50lb tensile specification is tailor-made for battling large fish like bass and catfish, perfectly meeting the demands of "catfish braided fishing line" and "bass fishing line".
- Special Process and Performance: Using seamless molding technology, this braid fishing line features a mirror-smooth surface that reduces water resistance, speeding up retrieve and saving time. Braided line's super-soft texture and anti-curling design ensure straight-line casting even after prolonged use. This makes "50lb braided fishing line" excel in all freshwater scenarios, cutting through water quickly to seize biting opportunities.
- Universal for All Water Environments: The finely treated surface colloid and special coating deliver superior tensile strength. It withstands repeated use in freshwater and resists high-salinity corrosion in saltwater, boosting wear resistance. This makes "braided fishing line freshwater" suitable for lakes, rivers, and even coastal fishing, while its durability meets the needs of "bulk braided fishing line" for large-scale use.
- Focus on Color and Environment: Focused on color research, the dark green shade blends seamlessly into freshwater, confusing wary fish like bass and catfish. This color not only enhances stealth for "bass fishing line" but also matches craft needs for "fishing line for crafts", ensuring both practicality and concealment in lure making.
- Improved Diameter and Toughness: The diameter is over 2x thinner than traditional 4-strand PE lines, achieving an "invisible line" effect to lower fish alertness. With low elongation and high tensile strength, it transmits force instantly during hooksets, preventing escape. The 545yd bulk spool satisfies "bulk braided fishing line" demands, offering professionals and enthusiasts a thin yet tough line that redefines "50 lb braided fishing line" standards.
