It depends on what “highest-paid” means. In a February 2026 ranking of estimated weekly club wages, Ivan Toney leads English players at £425,260 a week, ahead of Harry Kane (£416,758) and Jude Bellingham (£347,243). These are media-reported estimates, not officially disclosed or audited salaries. A later tracker gives Bellingham a different top ranking, so there is no single definitive figure.

Who tops the reported weekly-wage ranking?

The February 12, 2026 list published by The Football Group and attributed to Football FanCast ranks players by estimated weekly club wage. Its annual amounts are the publisher’s own estimates, not a separate audited measure.

Why do other lists name a different top earner?

Salary trackers do not agree, and their figures should not be averaged. They publish estimates based on different reporting and tracking methods rather than a common official salary register.

Does “highest earning” include endorsements?

Not necessarily. A weekly-wage list estimates club pay; a total-earnings estimate can also count bonuses, image rights, endorsements, appearances, memorabilia or business income. Those measures answer different questions and should not be combined into one ranking.

Forbes’ 2026 World Cup earnings list is a separate, narrower comparison: it covers World Cup competitors, not every English player worldwide. Forbes estimates Jude Bellingham’s total at $44 million, divided into $29 million on-field and $15 million off-field, and Harry Kane’s at $41 million, divided into $29 million on-field and $12 million off-field. Forbes says the estimates track the preceding 12 months, use May exchange rates and are rounded to the nearest $1 million. Its methodology draws on news reports, public databases and industry conversations; it excludes transfer fees, investment income, taxes and agents’ fees. See Forbes’ 2026 World Cup list and methodology.

How to read these figures

  • Check the measure: a weekly wage is not a complete estimate of annual income or total wealth.
  • Check the date: contract updates, transfers and loan arrangements can make an older list stale.
  • Check the coverage: a nationality tracker and a list limited to World Cup competitors do not cover the same population.
  • Check what is included: club salary estimates and Forbes’ on-field/off-field earnings estimates use different categories.
  • Check disclosure status: the figures here are estimates attributed to publishers, not audited salary disclosures.
