Ilkka Paananen is the CEO and co-founder of Supercell, the company that makes Brawl Stars. Brawl Stars does not have a separate CEO of its own in the official materials reviewed, so the accurate answer is the company-level role.
Who leads Brawl Stars’ parent company
Supercell’s official announcement dated August 18, 2025, which welcomed Drussila Hollanda as its new Head of New Games, refers to “our CEO Ilkka.” Independent institutional profiles fill in the surname and confirm the title. The LEGO Group’s board of directors page identifies Paananen as Supercell’s CEO and co-founder and lists Brawl Stars among the company’s games. BAFTA’s 2026 Games Fellowship announcement describes him the same way. A first-person essay by Paananen, “In for the Forever Game,” published February 11, 2025, discusses Brawl Stars and is written from his CEO role.
Why “CEO of Brawl Stars” is shorthand
Readers often phrase the question as if the game were a company with its own chief executive. It is not. Brawl Stars is one of the games Supercell has brought to the global market, and Supercell’s official game page presents it as a Supercell title. The supported statement is therefore “Ilkka Paananen is CEO of Supercell, which makes Brawl Stars.” Calling him the CEO of the game without qualification goes beyond what the official sources establish.
How game teams fit into the structure
Supercell’s “About Us” page describes a model in which game teams work with a high degree of independence. That structure explains why the company-level chief executive and the people who run a specific game’s development are different roles. The company page does not publish a named lead for Brawl Stars, so any name offered as the game’s “CEO” would be unsupported by the company’s own materials.

Executive roles can change, and a summary like this one can go stale. To confirm the current holder:
- Open Supercell’s official website and check the company’s leadership or “About Us” section.
- Look for the most recent official Supercell announcement naming a CEO, and compare its date with the announcements listed above.
- Check the official Brawl Stars game page to confirm the game is still presented as a Supercell title.
- If a third-party page names a separate CEO for Brawl Stars, look for a company statement supporting it before accepting it.
Those four checks will confirm both the executive and the game relationship without relying on secondary coverage.
