Who is the entrepreneur behind Comrade?
A TechTimes interview published April 4, 2023, identified Sami Baddar as a serial entrepreneur and described Comrade as his latest venture. A company launch announcement distributed February 16, 2023, named him CEO and co-founder. These sources establish how Baddar and Comrade were presented at launch; they do not establish the company’s present status.
In the interview, Baddar said, “I was frustrated with the way online advertising worked.” Comrade’s proposed alternative was to share advertising value with shoppers rather than ask them to view recommendations without compensation.
How was Comrade supposed to pay shoppers?
Comrade described a three-party exchange: advertisers paid for an opportunity to reach shoppers, shoppers received compensation for attention to recommendations, and the browser extension connected the two. The company called the approach “Attention Cash Back.”

What shoppers would see
The 2023 interview characterized the extension as free and “set-and-forget.” While a person shopped online, it would display product recommendations. Comrade said the recommendations were matched to the current URL and that shoppers received cash for visiting them. The available launch materials do not specify a dependable earning rate, payout threshold, redemption schedule, or typical amount a shopper could earn.
What advertisers were meant to get
Advertisers were offered a way to reach people Comrade considered relevant to their offers. The company’s model depended on shoppers noticing or engaging with recommendations, but the launch sources provide no independently verified conversion rates, advertiser revenue, user counts, or retention figures. The pitch therefore explains the intended exchange, not whether it was commercially effective.

What should a shopper or advertiser evaluate?
Rewarded advertising can be judged by whether the value and terms are clear to the person giving attention, whether the engagement is useful to the advertiser, and what information the service needs to operate. A 2026 article discussing rewarded advertising generally identifies trust, privacy, fraud, margin pressure, and scale as category-level concerns; it does not show that Comrade experienced any of those problems.
- For shoppers: Check how rewards are calculated, what actions qualify, how and when rewards can be redeemed, and whether fees or minimum balances apply. The 2023 Comrade sources do not establish those practical terms.
- For advertisers: Ask what counts as meaningful engagement and whether campaign outcomes are measured beyond a recommendation being shown or visited. No independently verified Comrade campaign results are available in the cited launch sources.
- For anyone concerned about privacy: Consider what browsing or interaction data an extension can access and how long it is retained. Comrade said it matched recommendations in real time and discarded matching information after delivery, but those are company-reported claims, not independently audited findings.
Is Comrade still operating?
Its current status is unconfirmed. A 2024 Reddit post reported that Comrade had shut down, attributing the information to the company website, but that is a user report rather than current primary confirmation. The available sources do not verify whether the company is operating, whether its extension can still be installed, or whether former users can redeem rewards. Treat old descriptions of the product as historical, not as an offer available today.
