Who is Etsy’s new CEO?
Kruti Patel Goyal is Etsy’s CEO and President. Etsy announced the succession on October 29, 2025, after its board approved her appointment on October 27. The appointments took effect January 1, 2026, and Etsy’s 2026 proxy statement and executive profile confirm the transition is complete.
Before becoming CEO, Patel Goyal was Etsy’s President and Chief Growth Officer, a role she took on January 1, 2025. Etsy said its board chose her as part of its succession planning, citing her knowledge of Etsy’s customers and her leadership of strategic growth initiatives. Those statements explain the company’s rationale; they do not establish how her leadership will affect Etsy’s future performance.
Was Kruti Patel Goyal CEO of Depop?
Yes. Patel Goyal led Depop from September 2022 through March 2025. Etsy had announced her appointment to the role in July 2022, describing Depop as a global fashion resale marketplace. She then returned to Etsy as President and Chief Growth Officer.

Her experience at Etsy also includes serving as Chief Product Officer from October 2019 to July 2022 and holding leadership roles at the company since 2011. Etsy’s executive profile lists responsibilities spanning product, seller services, corporate development, international growth, marketplace integrity and Trust & Safety. The company also says she previously worked in strategy and business development at Viacom and Product (RED), and began her career in mergers and acquisitions at Morgan Stanley and General Atlantic Partners.
What happened to Josh Silverman?
Silverman’s service as Etsy CEO ended December 31, 2025. He became Executive Chair on January 1, 2026; Etsy’s announced plan was for him to serve in that role through December 31, 2026. The Executive Chair role is distinct from the CEO and President positions Patel Goyal holds.
In its announcement, Etsy credited Silverman’s tenure with shoppers more than tripling, gross merchandise sales growing fourfold, revenue growing nearly eightfold and the company’s share price appreciating more than seven times. These are company-reported historical comparisons attributed to board chair Fred Wilson, not forecasts or a guarantee of future results.

The transition puts an executive with experience in Etsy’s product and marketplace operations, Depop’s leadership, and Etsy’s growth organization at the top of the company. Etsy framed the choice as a planned succession. Its executives expressed confidence in Patel Goyal, but the appointment announcement and filings establish the roles and dates—not whether the company’s strategy or financial performance will improve.

For investors and shoppers, the key point is that this is no longer a pending appointment: Patel Goyal’s CEO and President roles began January 1, 2026. Silverman’s Executive Chair service was announced to continue through the end of that year.
