In the Premier League salary ranking published on 5 November 2024, Kevin De Bruyne was listed first, ahead of Erling Haaland. The annual figures were reported by Diario AS and Cadena SER as Spotrac salary estimates—not as verified total earnings or an official league payroll. Because the reports appeared in November, they are a snapshot of the ranking reported then, not a definitive audit of every contract change across 2024.
Who was the Premier League’s highest-paid player in the reported 2024 ranking?
Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City topped the ranking, with an estimated annual salary of €24.79 million, according to Spotrac figures reported by Diario AS on 5 November 2024. Erling Haaland was second at €23.24 million. Cadena SER published the same top two and the same euro figures that day.
The reports agree on the ranking, but both attribute it to Spotrac. Their matching lists show what was reported at the time; they are not independent disclosures from the clubs or a verification of contract terms.

| Reported position | Player | Reported annual salary |

| 1 | Kevin De Bruyne | €24.79 million |
| 2 | Erling Haaland | €23.24 million |
| 3 (tied) | Casemiro | €21.69 million |

| 5 | Raheem Sterling | €20.14 million |
Casemiro and Salah share third place in the reported list. Cadena SER also placed Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford in the next tier, tied with one another; it did not establish a separate ranking among those three in the information reported here.
What does “earns” mean in this ranking?
These figures are salary estimates, not a complete accounting of what each player earned. The reports do not establish each player’s take-home pay after tax, endorsement income, realized bonuses, or full contractual compensation. They also do not state here whether every bonus or incentive is included. For that reason, the figures should not be described as total earnings or as confirmed net pay.
Rank #2
The dates matter, too: the reports were published on 5 November 2024. They describe the ranking reported at that point, rather than proving that the figures capture all contract changes during the calendar year or applying unchanged to an entire season.

Financial figures about clubs or agents answer different questions from an individual player’s salary. The Premier League said it committed more than £550 million to the wider game in the 2024/25 season, a league-level payment figure that does not identify what any named player was paid. The Premier League’s announcement is therefore context about the wider game, not evidence for the salary ranking.

How to read a football salary ranking
- Check the date: a ranking published during the year is a dated snapshot, not necessarily a full-year or season-end account.
- Check the measure: salary estimates are not interchangeable with total compensation, take-home pay, endorsements or club spending.
- Check the source: two outlets repeating the same underlying provider’s figures do not amount to two independent payroll audits.
- Keep comparisons consistent: annual euro estimates should not be mixed with weekly wages, another currency, or a different season’s figures unless the conversion and time basis are made explicit.
