Achievo planned to acquire Inproware, a German IT services provider. InfoWorld reported the announcement on July 17, 2006, describing the proposed deal as a way for Achievo to reach more German customers while drawing on its development centers in China. The report covered a plan; it did not establish that the acquisition closed.
What Achievo announced
Inproware was expected to operate as a division of Achievo. Its chief executive, Hans Donat, was expected to remain in charge and report to the head of Achievo ICS, Achievo’s German unit. InfoWorld’s report did not disclose financial terms.
Why Achievo wanted Inproware
Achievo cited growing demand for outsourcing services in Germany and a desire to connect local customer-facing operations with development capacity in China. The purchase was described as Achievo’s second in Germany: in 2005, it had acquired ICS Software AG, which became Achievo ICS.
Potential customer access
The announcement named car maker Audi AG and Klinikum Ingolstadt as customer opportunities. It presented Klinikum Ingolstadt as a foothold among German health-care providers. Those were expected opportunities, not evidence that the customers were retained or that the deal produced particular financial results.
