For an eligible Costco purchase, the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi earns 2% back at Costco warehouses and on Costco.com. Executive members may also earn a separate 2% Costco reward on qualifying purchases, subject to exclusions and a $1,250 maximum. Those are distinct rewards, not a single 4% card rate. The available verified terms do not support naming and ranking three current cards, so this guide compares the confirmed Costco card with a carefully qualified alternative rather than inventing a top three.
What the Costco Anywhere Visa earns on a large purchase
The Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi earns 2% on other Costco and Costco.com purchases. Its higher advertised rates apply to different categories: 5% at Costco gas, 4% on other eligible gas and EV charging, and 3% at restaurants and on eligible travel, including Costco Travel. The card earns 1% on purchases outside those categories.
The 5% and 4% gas and EV charging rates share a combined $7,000 annual spending threshold; after that, the rate is 1%. Estimate the card reward on your purchase
For a qualifying merchandise purchase, multiply the purchase amount by 0.02 to estimate the card reward. For example, a $3,000 eligible purchase would generate $60 in card rewards at 2%, before any applicable returns, adjustments, or issuer terms. This is an estimate, not an immediate cash discount at checkout.

Executive membership can add a separate reward
Costco Executive membership has its own annual 2% reward on qualifying Costco purchases. Costco states that the reward has a $1,250 maximum and is subject to terms, conditions, and exclusions. It is separate from the Citi card certificate, and not every Costco transaction necessarily qualifies. Costco mails the Executive reward before the member’s renewal date. Review Costco’s Executive membership reward terms for eligible purchases and exclusions.
If you already have Executive membership, an eligible purchase may earn both the membership reward and the card’s 2% reward. Do not treat that as a guaranteed 4% return on every purchase: the purchase must qualify for the Executive reward, and the card and membership rewards have different terms and delivery schedules. If you are considering upgrading membership solely for a large purchase, compare the expected qualifying reward with the additional membership cost using Costco’s current terms.

How the Citi card reward is paid
Citi distributes rewards annually after the February billing statement closes as a certificate redeemable at U.S. Costco warehouses. Costco says the certificate can be redeemed for cash or merchandise at U.S. warehouses. That makes it less flexible than cash deposited directly into a bank account, and it is not the same as an instant discount on the purchase. Can you use the card at your Costco checkout?
U.S. Costco warehouses accept Visa credit cards. Costco.com accepts Visa and Mastercard as well as other listed payment methods. Acceptance can therefore affect the practical choice between cards, particularly for in-warehouse purchases. Check Costco’s current payment and card information before checkout, since the accepted methods may differ by channel.

What about a flat-rate 2% Visa?
A Visa that earns 2% on eligible purchases can be an alternative to the Costco card for Costco spending, especially if its rewards are more useful to you than an annual warehouse certificate. One reported option is the Fidelity Rewards Visa: Kiplinger’s 2026 Readers’ Choice article describes 2% rewards when the rewards are deposited into a qualifying Fidelity account. That is a secondary-source description, not enough by itself to establish the issuer’s current eligibility rules, annual fee, spending caps, redemption conditions, or purchase protections. Check the current Kiplinger 2026 Readers’ Choice coverage and Fidelity’s current card agreement before applying or relying on the rate.
Before choosing any alternative, confirm that it is a Visa if you plan to use it in a U.S. warehouse, whether Costco.com accepts it for your order, and whether reward deposits require an eligible account or minimum. The verified information here does not establish a third distinct current card with comparable terms, so a ranked top-three list would overstate what can be confirmed.

How to choose for your purchase
- Already hold the Costco card? For eligible Costco merchandise, use its 2% rate as the baseline and account for the annual certificate’s warehouse redemption format.
- Already have Executive membership? Check whether the specific purchase qualifies for the separate 2% reward and whether you are near its $1,250 cap.
- Considering another 2% Visa? Compare the actual issuer agreement: eligible purchase categories, caps, annual fee, account requirements, reward delivery and redemption options.
