The Malibu Beach House episode of Scott’s Vacation House Rules is associated with West Lake, Ontario, not Malibu, California. “Malibu” describes the beach-retreat makeover style. The only nightly figure tied to that area is an average: Home Network reports that a four-bedroom cottage in the West Lake area rents for about $500 per night. That is a neighborhood benchmark, not a confirmed price for the episode house. If you mean Scott McGillivray’s own vacation property in the Kawartha Lakes, its second cottage or lodge was reported at $850 per night during high season.

Which property the title refers to

Scott’s Vacation House Rules has several first-season episodes, so the title alone does not identify one house. Apple TV lists “Malibu Beach House” as a first-season episode and describes a family cottage transformed into a Malibu-inspired beach retreat. Other first-season listings on Apple TV include the Bavarian Guest House, a Muskoka cottage, a pet-friendly lakefront cottage, a lakeside rental and a historic carriage house.

The series premise, as Apple TV’s official description puts it, is that “Scott McGillivray shows homeowners how to unlock a vacation property’s full rental potential.” That is platform copy rather than a quote from a named person, but it explains why each episode centers on a property’s rental appeal.

Where the Malibu Beach House cottage is

Home Network’s article on the Malibu-inspired cottage connects the property to West Lake, Ontario. The version reviewed for this article does not show a publication date, so check the date on the page before relying on the figures it contains.

What it costs to rent

Home Network reports that the average four-bedroom cottage in the West Lake area rents for about $500 per night. The same reporting says a waterfront location can bring a higher rate, but it does not state how much higher. Because the figure is an average for comparable cottages, it tells you what the market looks like around the episode house, not what that specific home charges on a given weekend.

Scott McGillivray’s Kawartha Lakes property

Home Network separately describes Scott McGillivray’s own property in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario. Its second cottage or lodge was reported at $850 per night during high season. This is a seasonal rate for one property, not an area average, and the source does not say whether that unit is available on any particular date.

How to get a real rental quote

Neither figure is a bookable price. Neither source confirms that either property is currently listed for rent. To find out what you would actually pay:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Confirm which property you mean: the Malibu Beach House episode in West Lake, or Scott McGillivray’s Kawartha Lakes property.
  2. Find a live listing for that exact house. Only a current listing can show whether it is open for booking.
  3. Enter your travel dates and guest count, since availability and rates depend on both.
  4. Read the total cost, not only the nightly rate. Check cleaning and other fees, and the minimum stay.
  5. Compare the result with the benchmark. If a four-bedroom listing in West Lake is far above $500 per night, check whether it is waterfront, booked in peak season, or a different size.

Prices for a rental move with season, length of stay and the property’s own features, so a quote for one weekend will not tell you the cost of another.
