Recent coverage describes Lady Gaga’s Malibu estate as her home, but the properties associated with her over the years include both rentals and a Laurel Canyon house she later sold. Her best-known purchase is the Malibu estate, reported at roughly $22.5 million to $23 million in 2014; a current, verified total for her real estate holdings is not established.
Where does Lady Gaga live now?
Architectural Digest and Elle Decor describe Gaga’s Malibu property as her home in their 2026 retrospectives. That is the most recent status reported in the sources here, not confirmation from a current ownership record. The documented history also includes New York rentals and a Laurel Canyon property sold in 2021, so those former homes should not be mistaken for places she owns now.

The Malibu estate: her best-known reported purchase
The Malibu property is the centerpiece of Gaga’s documented real estate story. The Los Angeles Times reported a $23 million purchase in October 2014, while Architectural Digest and Elle Decor give $22.5 million in later retrospectives. The sources therefore support a reported price in the range of roughly $22.5 million to $23 million, rather than one uncontested figure.

Architectural Digest describes the estate as approximately six acres, with a 10,270-square-foot main residence across from Zuma Beach. Coverage highlights its equestrian facilities and leisure amenities, including an ocean-view pool and spa, wine cellar, home theater and vintage two-lane bowling alley. Gaga described the house as “my sanctuary” in Vogue’s 2018 profile.
For a personal-finance perspective, the reported purchase price is a historical transaction figure—not a current appraisal. The available coverage does not establish what the estate would be worth today.

Laurel Canyon: a music-history property she sold
Gaga bought the former Frank Zappa compound in Laurel Canyon in 2016 for a reported $5.25 million. Los Angeles Magazine, citing public records, reported that she sold it in August 2021 for $6.45 million; the buyer was not identified in the article. Realtor.com also covered the purchase and sale.
The property’s appeal was not just its scale: it included Zappa’s recording studio, alongside a Tudor-style main house, two guest cottages, a pool and rooftop tennis court. Los Angeles Magazine reported that Gaga recorded music there, including work associated with Chromatica. The sale price exceeded the reported purchase price, but those two historical figures alone do not establish her net proceeds, carrying costs, or investment return.

Which New York homes were rentals?
The Central Park South duplex and Chelsea townhouse were reported rentals, not purchases. Architectural Digest and Elle Decor say Gaga began renting the two-bedroom, roughly 2,000-square-foot Central Park South penthouse in 2013 for $22,000 a month. Elle Decor reports that she rented a six-story Chelsea townhouse in 2016 for $67,000 a month. These are historical reported rents; they do not indicate present availability or current prices.

A March 2021 realestate.com.au article used a $36.1 million portfolio figure in its headline. That is a dated secondary-source estimate, not a current valuation. The published sources covered here do not establish a current aggregate portfolio value or a complete, deed-verified list of properties she owns.

It is especially important not to add old purchase prices, former rents and a sold property’s sale price as if they were current assets. They describe different things at different dates: acquisition cost, rental expense and a past sale transaction.
