Boeing’s last 737 Next Generation (737NG) deliveries are reported to have taken place in January 2020, when two 737-800s went to China Eastern Airlines. That reported delivery endpoint came after the last aircraft was assembled: a 737-800 delivered to KLM in December 2019. The dates and customer details come from secondary reference material; Boeing confirms that the 737NG is no longer in production but does not identify the final delivery.

When was the last 737NG delivered?

The final 737NG deliveries are reported as two 737-800 aircraft delivered to China Eastern Airlines in January 2020. The reported final aircraft assembled was also a 737-800, delivered to KLM in December 2019. These are separate milestones: the last reported assembly was not the last reported delivery. Boeing’s current 737NG overview identifies the generation as a non-production model, but does not state those final handover details.

Which aircraft are part of the 737 Next Generation family?

The 737NG generation comprises the 737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900. The China Eastern aircraft in the reported final deliveries and the final aircraft assembled for KLM were both 737-800s.

Did the 737 program end with the last 737NG delivery?

No. The January 2020 milestone marks the reported end of 737NG deliveries, not the end of the broader 737 program. Boeing’s overview classifies the NG as a non-production model and says aircraft remain in customer fleets; the later 737 MAX belongs to the continuing 737 family.

What do Boeing’s 737 delivery totals show?

Boeing’s 2021 annual report recorded 7,745 cumulative deliveries across the 737 program as of December 31, 2021, and 263 737 deliveries during 2021. Both figures cover the 737 program as a whole, not the 737NG alone, so they do not establish a lifetime NG delivery total.
